Chryst biography
CHRYST is an Austrian Avant/Extreme Prog Metal project from Christof NIEDERWIESER, previously known as band leader for Avant Metal bands KOROVA in the 90′s and KOROVAKILL from 2000 onwards, and also active as chief editor of the webzine http://www.avantgarde-metal.com.

CHRYST's "Phantasmachronica" is a solo work, a 47 minute piece of continuous music that recalls EDGE OF SANITY's "Crimson", not only for being a one-man 40-plus minute opus, but also in sound and atmosphere and for hitting that small spot where experimentation meets accessibility. While musically similar to previous projects, "Phantasmachronica" is more cohesive and mature, less industrial and more prog oriented; next to the alterations between melodic and brutal sections, CHRYST also delves into Avant territories with a penchant for theatricality and humor. NIEDERWIESER's gloomy and slightly 'off' vocals recall VIRUS and VED BEUNS ENDE.

CHRYST is a promising new project that seamlessly integrates doom, death, symphonic, avant and black metal. Challenging but not too hermetic or self-absorbed, and highly recommended to fans of ARCTURUS, EDGE OF SANITY, VED BEUNS ENDE and other dark experimental metal.
