Mushgoons biography
MUSHGOONS forms in May 2008 in Milan/Italy when Stefano Cappelletti and Massimo Mercuri meet Mirko Zonca, an indie musician known in the Italian underground music scene. Mirko was looking for musicians to form a band inspired by the purest psychedelic current and taking as a reference bands and artists of the '60s and '70s likewise Tangerine Dream, Nektar, Faust, Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, Blue Cheer, Captain Beefheart, Jimi Hendrix, Soft Machine, Van Der Graaf Generator, The Who, Area aso.

The trio gets straight to work both in the writing songs and playing live performances in Italy, also counting on strong aptitude for improvisation of the three elements of the band. After only three months, August 2008, the band goes to record some songs in the recording studio and in September of the same year, the album 'When The Meteors Explode Pentatonic Generator Reign Over All' is released, produced and distributed by Bigmud Records.

At the end of October 2008, after just a few live concerts of the promotion tour, Mirko Zonca suddenly decides to quit the band, in order to dedicate to a new musical project. After a pause of several months, the two remaining members decide to pursue the project MUSHGOONS, taking up the study of new riffs and meanwhile seeking musicians who want to participate actively in the band's growth.

After some difficulty (Stefano will be transferred to another region for work), only in 2010, the band settles on a permanent basis with the input of Simone Toniolo on bass and voice. The trio thus formed immediately begins a live activity in Northern Italy, completely focused on progressive and psychedelic music, totally improvised on stage.

Thus, each song is played for the first and last time in that moment. During the course of 2010 the harmony between the three musicians improves so much that even for the work in the recording studio is decided not to bring any riff nor structure previously studied, but to improvise songs at the moment, as already happens with positive feedback during live performances.

Following this concept, the band records and mixes some tracks in 2011 and in May 2012, soon the album 'Hallucinated Livestock' is released by a small independent Italian label Raffinerie Musicali. In June 2011, the young bass player Giorgio Ardemagni enters the band on a permanent basis, while other musicians collaborate occasionally with the band during the recording studio sessions.
