The HAARP Machine biography
THE HAARP MACHINE are a progressive deathcore band from London, England, founded in 2007. Their current line-up consists of guitarist Al MU'MIN, vocalist Mike SEMESKY, bassist Oliver ROONEY, and drummer Alex RÜDINGER. Their debut album ''Disclosure'' was released on Sumerian Records in 2012.

Musically, THE HAARP MACHINE play a very technical and abrasive style of deathcore that is characterized by many instances of clean vocal and guitar passages, heavy use of keyboard and synthesizer, and occasional use of middle- and far-eastern folk instruments like the sitar and the koto. In addition, the band puts heavy emphasis on promotion of their lyrical motives, which involve themes like socioeconomic and political conspiracy, the Zeitgeist movement, and new-age social reform. Recommended for fans of technical progressive metal acts like label-mates THE FACELESS and PERIPHERY.

The HAARP Machine Tech/Extreme Prog Metal

Review by ole-the-first

4 stars A nice and solid progressive metal album from the lesser-known British band The HAARP Machine. Unlike many extreme metal bands which like very much simply to follow, let's say, Atheist or Opeth, The HAARP Machine are developing their unique style, not really akin to any other existing band (though fans of Cynic and Atheist should be pleased with this record).

'Disclosure' consists of relatively short songs (with only one track longer than six minutes) and lasts for just 36 minutes, which is not that much by today's standards. Anyway, even with pretty short length The HAARP Machine provide us an impressive journey through heavy riffs, oriental motifs with usage of unusual musical instruments suach as sitar, both rough growled and clean vocals.

Despite of its heaviness and technical leanings, this album is still pretty melodic and memorable even after the first listen.

8/10 for a promising debut.

Thanks to aapatsos for the artist addition.
