It has been almost one and a half years since the last newsletter and this, of course, is far too long. But now that I finally updated the mailing-list I intend to keep it that way, so you should hear from us more regularly in the future. Stay tuned, folks!

Waking The Dead

The Big News this time around is that we have a new album out! It's a live album entitled "Waking The Dead, Live In Japan 2005" and it was recorded during our two shows at Tokyo Kinema Klub in February. Japan has been special to us ever since the release of "Vemod", so we wanted to give the fans something special when we did our first shows in Tokyo in five years. Our repertoire was bigger than ever before and we also played longer sets than ever, which meant that we had 25 songs, most of them in 2 versions, to choose from for the album. We wanted to put as much music as possible onto 1 CD/2 LP's and the tracklist that we came up with was:
    1. Monolith
    2. From Within
    3. Kiss Of Life
    4. Hole
    5. SW4
    6. Moons Of Mars
    7. The Sun Absolute
    8. Ricochet
    9. Gravity
    10. This Too Will Pass
    11. Sad Rain

Nicklas came up with the basic idea for Moons Of Mars during the soundcheck for the second days performance and the "song" is mainly performed on three Mellotrons. This Too Will Pass is a previously unreleased instrumental and Sad Rain was originally featured as the bonus track on the Japanese Vemod edition. The rest of the songs are from our two latest studio releases "From Within" and "Gravity". None of the songs on "Waking The Dead" were featured on our previous live album "Official Bootleg, Live In Japan". The running time is approximately 79 minutes.

The album was recorded by Akinobu Mukaedani, mixed by Hans Fredriksson and Anekdoten at Rommarö Studio and mastered by Christoffer Stannow at Cosmos Mastering. Initial reactions have been positive and we are also very happy with the way it turned out. We hope you'll enjoy it too!

The CD was released by Disk Union on September 22 and is available from them in Japan, and from this day also through our webshop at www.anekdoten.se.

At the moment we are putting the final touches to the vinyl version (2 LP). It will be released on our own Virta-label in October and I will send out a separate newsletter with more information about it as soon as we have received the LP's from the manufacturer.

New Additions To The Webshop

We are happy to inform you that all the Japanese Anekdoten-releases on the Arcángelo label are now available from the webshop. A thunderstorm appeared as out of nowhere when Nicklas had sung the opening lines of Gravity. The storm almost blew us off the stage so we had no choice but to abort the show. The arrangers were kind enough to give us another go this year. This time the thunderstorm came earlier during the day and when we played (in the slot before Love) the sun was shining again. A great gig, as always in Herzberg! The German tv-show Rockpalast did a 3 hour special of the festival, but unfortunately Anekdoten was not featured on the programme as the audio from our performance was lost in a computer crash. Too bad. Anyway, thanks once again to Elmar and the Herzberg team for being so kind to us. It's great that the festival is back - better than ever!

So, no Anekdoten filming from Herzberg, but what we *can* offer you is a small view into our rehearsal room at www.anekdoten.se. Tord Lindman and Daniel, who also did the The War Is Over-video, filmed parts of the dress rehersal for the Anekdoten/Ritual-tour in April 2004. A while ago we published the song From Within from this rehearsal on www.anekdoten.se (click on Audio/Video and press play). Thanks again, Tord!

Current Activities

After a lazy summer we have now started rehearsing more regularly. We are in the process of writing new songs for our next studio release and the work is progressing nicely. No live dates are scheduled at the moment, but check out www.anekdoten.se every once in a while for eventual updates.

You'll hear from me again when the "Waking The Dead"-vinyl is out.

'Til the next time, thank you!

Jan Erik Liljeström
anekdoten@anekdoten.se
www.anekdoten.se
If you would like to be removed from this list or are receiving multiple copies, please send an email and you will be accommodated.
