    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.progarchives.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=4499" rel="nofollow">acheron</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 19205<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> February 19 2006 at 04:39<br /><br /><P>i've been a DT fan for a while now, and i just recently got into Symphony X</P><P>Ive been comparing John' and Michael's guitar styles lately and i'm wondering your guys opinions on these two outstanding guitarists.&nbsp; a few weeks ago i would have preferd John over Mike, but i think ive switched to prefer Mike recently.&nbsp; John's playing seems to always circulate around a few chromatic shredding runs,&nbsp;his technical mastery over the instrument is out of this world, but his tone and his machine like approach to playing gets a little irritating.&nbsp; Michael on the other hand has suprisingly tasteful solo's and great tone.&nbsp; no doubt he can play as fast as anyone in the world, but he seems to always have a good amount of improvisation in his solos.&nbsp; his playing in general is incredible tight yet loose and fluid at the same time. (think evolution (the grand design))&nbsp;</P><P>&nbsp; </P><P>&nbsp;</P>]]>
