THRESHOLD — Extinct Instinct

PART OF THE CHAOS, FOREVER

"Extinct Instinct" did not be alone the first Threshold's album but also the first Prog Metal's album that I bought. Logical I is specially bound to this album.

It sets to music simple and directed it is the restrained one in this CD. Nevertheless it is also technical and exciting. What it hits it is a heaviness that remembers certain things of Black Sabbath filtrered however from solids measure of Yes and the voice of Damian Wilson that is very attractive. The better things are surely: "Exposed", "Eat The Unicorn", Forever" (excellent ballad), "Virtual Isolation", "Clear" and "Part Of The Chaos".

Not a masterpiece... But there it goes close.

Came to Birmingham in 1975 and was taken to see City Boy at Barbarella's. Never looked back for the next two years. Loved the first two albums - still got them. Oddball Dance is simply magic, The Violin is one of the best romantic songs ever written.

PINK FLOYD — Division BellReview by boardlloyd ha ha there was a momentery lapse of reason first and then this disastour,without rodger where are they,i think they accepted the fact that the driving force has left the band,they are out of ideas,this was their last one,a great day for freedom is a prime example of this,trying to imitate rodgers ideas,and in what do you want from me,dave is admitting retirement, while rodgers brain is still creating,the divisionbell is a sellout with no risk taking,the floyd are old and probably in pyjamas and slippers,while rodger like bowie is timeless,the division bell?more like sell out hell!

 

I found this review to be somewhat irrational. The reviewer states that this album was a sellout and the songs weren't good, but doesn't give any reason why he thinks that, he insults the remaining members of Pink Floyd, he spells Roger Water's name wrong, and the review is hard to read.

The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is a great Swan Song for Peter Gabriel. The first song which is the title song samples Felix Mendelsshon's 'A Midsummer Nights Dream'. It is a must for Prog-Rock. It mentons life in New York and it's almost a rock-opera. This could've been a good rock-opera play. And I'm surprised that the Who isn't mentioned as a proto-prog band. They made 'Tommy' and that album was a ground-breaking album because of that!

This is gonna be for sure a classic live album of prog music. The setlist is so great it's unbelivable. The perfomance of the band on this album is so wonderful, even Labrie dosen't miss a note! This album will stay one of my favorites for sure.

This is extreamely interesting music. Original Swedish folk prog with melodies takenfrom scandinavian folk music like polka and played with keyboards and violin and arhythm section. Among the keybs is Hammond and the great Tron. The tracks vary inlength from 57 seconds to 25+ minutes. The music is imaginative and courage. It don'tsettle for simple folk tunes. It grows into symphionic measures and sounds like bandslike Dream Theater do at their best, when not playing too metallic parts. So verystrong and melodic music. The singing takes a liittle time to be accepted atleast inthe first track Will Be The Wind. The melody is not easy or predictable. The singeris actually quite good.

I personally like the combination of modern symphonic prog and scandinavian folkmelodies. Absolutely an excellent addition to whom so ever prog fans collection. Fourstars.

It hits like the typical characters of six wives of Henry VIII so quite demonstrator are represented like Rick succeeded to read the inside of the events, thing that the books does not come done. I did not understood the reason of this Tribute Album. Actual no there I succeed! Useless, cold, calculator... An album for does spend money and other nothing!

Nevertheless resonable they are the version of "I Can See For Miles", "I Don't Need No Doctor", "A Salty Dog", "Manic Depression" and "Wishing Well" that do not suffice to make off an album however useless. And here I close.

BTW, online translators - cheap or otherwise - are to be avoided at all costs, for a series of reasons I won't go into now. Personally, I think one should avoid writing in a language they are not good enough at... but that's just my usual, conceited-prat self!

Thank You for great review. But I'm not really shure about the "third album of Predmestje", as they have not issued any. The "Hazard" was the pop gruop in 70ies. They should issue more then 3 LPs.
