Author: Tony R
Subject: 45916
Posted: February 03 2008 at 09:56

Hot on the heels of the announcement about KCs potential foray into the 5.1 surround market, news has reached me that Alex Lifeson is keen to remix Rush's seminal Prog-Metal opus 2112 in 5.1.

This was mentioned by Terry Brown, one-time Rush producer in an interview with Ed Stenger of Rushisaband website:

RIAB: My all-time favorite Rush album (favorite album period!) is 2112. I've heard you mention in other interviewsthat you'd like to do 2112 in 5.1. I believe Alex Lifeson had statedsomething similar in an interview last year. What are the chances ofthis happening?

TB: Very minimal I would say! For two reasons: Alex is prettykeen on mixing 2112 himself and secondly I don't feel 5.1 works withoutpictures. Although I love Dark Side of the Moon and Yellow Brick Road- to name but two that withstand repeated listens in 5.1. It's reallyall about melody and production and 5.1 is not going to change thatsignificantly.

Courtesy of Rushisaband:
