Apology accepted, by me at least. The admin team may well come along and tidy things up in due course so I shouldn't worry too much.

Anyway, I must say I'm very excited about this concert. I never got to see Gryphon back in the day due to the slight inconvenience of not being born at the time.

Is there really any need to go making another thread in the SAME sub-forum for this (as well as yet another, in a less appropriate one)? Seriously, not a way to endear yourself to members of this site.

I'll be attending this gig, incidentally. I hope whoever's responsible for this spamming account isn't too formally connected with the band as it's a pretty shoddy way to behave.

32years ago Gryphon disappeared without trace under the onslaught of thenew and totally unforgiving Punk Rock movement.  This was rather asurprise to their very loyal fan base, as Gryphon had represented oneof the most interesting and unusual bands of the British progressivemovement.

In 1973 Gryphon were commissioned by Sir Peter Hall towrite the music for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of “TheTempest”.  They went on to perform the music at the Old Vic, being theonly band of its type ever to have performed there.

Gryphontoured the US in late 1974 as a support act to Yes, playing stadiumgigs including the Houston Astrodome, Texas, and Madison Square Garden,New York.  They also supported Yes on a UK tour as well as support forSteeleye Span in the same year, and even appeared on the King BiscuitFlower Hour radio concert series.  They were later supported by RichardDigance at a sold-out concert in the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. During this period alone they played in front of approximately 500,000people.

Gryphon are to date the only band to have appeared onBBC Radios 1, 2, 3 and 4 all in the same week!  This is testament tothe diversity of their music and how difficult it was to classify thegroup into one specific genre.  The five studio albums they producedbetween 1972 and 1977 demonstrate their evolution from an all-acousticmedieval music quartet to a progressive stadium rock band.

OnSaturday 6th June 2009 the original band will return to play anacoustic concert of material from their first two albums, “Gryphon” and“Midnight Mushrumps,” at The Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank inLondon.  For this performance they will be joined by special guestGraham Preskett.
