just want to mention a new band from england that sounds very much like floyd..more than eloy ever did..but a fantastic band, the future kings of england..check their latest..the viewing point..a beautiful instrumental floydian journey..

Probably Eloy is the most unique progressive rock band ever, you can easily compare with pf but you cant say "copy"...its really harsh.

Especially keneth's recommandations are really close to Eloy sound and i agree with him and also you can check these band too; jane, pancake, novalis.
 
And finally you have to buy our album, Frank Bornemann one of the most supporting person on these project. We were planning to record together but our drummer has problem with the visa so we are doing in Turkey rightnow. when we published our album, i will let you know ofcourse

you are correct, but if you dismiss them as just a Pink Floyd copy you are missing a lot of great music.

you are correct, but if you dismiss them as just a Pink Floyd copy you are missing a lot of great music.  And to comment more on the original thread, I actually like Bornemann's voice in spite of its flaws.  He cna go from caressing to careening in seconds, while sidestepping doom and gloom.

On top of that, he can't sing either. But the music is really good. I put on Oceans or Dawn once in a while if I want some 70s prog that I haven't played to death already.

Sorry. I meant to say accent and I didn't. Ange are French. The first 6 titles are pretty good. They sound a bit like early Genesis in places but, I feel that they have something original about them. They were or still are popular among the French but, here in the U.S.A. they were sought after as an underground prog band. They, if anything are much darker than Genesis and are sometimes reminiscent of King Crimson. As I always point out due to my personal beliefs, the lack of European social environment was why I did not prefer the accents. If I grew up in Germany maybe I wouldn't have minded it so much. This half true theory of mine I arrive at from this example only: I purchased about 6 titles from Omega. Out of those 6 titles I had a version of Skyrover that featured Hungarian and English vocals. I started gradually disliking the English version and developing a taste for the sound of Hungarian language. Now when I hear PFM or Omega singing in English, I think it sounds quite ridiculous. But still, simple and plain, the reason stares me in the face. Try Sky from Great Britain, specially Sky 2 - 1980 and Sky 3 - 1981, they are similar with Eloy, same spacey moments combined very well with symphonic and eclectic elements. I have always had the same problemLOL It's the accent that takes getting use to. Mani from Guru, Guru, is a little more easy to digest......at times. Although Guru, Guru is nothing like Eloy, my point is that you may need some time to adjust to the sound and style of German vocals. It took me quite a long time to adjust to the vocals of Ange. I am convinced that if I had lived in France all these years, the vocals in Ange would have been easily excepted. One day during a windy and nasty storm, with a landscape view from my window, I became daring and played the first 6 Ange titles. Everything fell into place. But I was in a mind set where I felt that American or British vocals were not suitable for my mood. I believe if I had been dating a girl from Germany, (many years ago), I would have taken a quicker adapting process for the Eloy vocals. I would also mention Daniel Gauthier's "Above the Storm", but if you don't like Frank Bornemann's vocals you won't like Gauthier's either
