Nice to see GY!BE win.  Hopefully the concept of the underdog overthrowing the bigger band will continue onto the next matches (Zappa vs. Magma, Can vs. Floyd if you get my drift.)

This is true, but only if you think that nothing in reality is beautiful!

For a long time I've thought that the phrase "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is an extremely pessimistic one. For the sake of my will to live, I have to believe that the world itself is beautiful, but it's up to the beholder to understand this beauty. Realizing the beauty in some things may require, for example, a change in the beholder's perspective, attitude or even personal knowledge, but I think it's rather egotistical to insinuate that it's the beholder who in a way "created" that beauty. Because of this, it actually could be argued that some music is more beautiful than some other IMHO.

If you think that GY!BE's music isn't really beautiful, you probably won't mind if I say that their music is complete bullsh*t (which YOU happen to find pretty)!

GY!BE certainly deserves it for their originality, innovation and their morality. We're talking about a band that didn't announced the majority of its shows (and still do) and even invited people who were kind and knew how to play an instrument to play with them!

This is a tough one since I really like both of these bands. Still, I have to give it to Tool for being one of my earliest favorites in the mysterious world of progressive music!

GYBE, unfortunately tool's winning...btw, there's no musical superiority...it's only a matter of taste, you can have a talent superiority based on techniques but the music in itself is a subjective absolute.

I hadn't heard GY!BE till about a week ago, but it wasn't because I was "to" musically limited; it was because I just hadn't gotten around to them yet. Probably too busy listening to Frogg Cafe. What? You haven't heard them? Then, surely, it's because you ARE A MORON.

Point is, there's loads and load and loads of bands out there.

BTW, no vote for me, not really aquainted enough with either band.

I feel that GYBE doesn't have nearly enough ideas to fill their incredibly long, streched tracks! Tool, on the other hand, is second only to Kayo Dot when it comes to volume of ideas! And I myself can't hear one bit of Dream Theater in Tool...
