Evergrey is more of a metal band with some prog influences, while Riverside is definitely a prog metal band. Not a 100% fair battle of course. Riverside is one of the top prog bands whilst Evergrey is (though very good) no where near that league.
I'm a big Riverside fan so can only pick them but I owe 6 Evergrey albums as well. Great band but their compositions are simply no match for Riverside standard.

I went with Riverside in a landslide... Well I think they are... The music might not be the most complex, but the plethora of concept albums, variety, musicianship and unusual songwriting does it for me.

Glad you liked SLS, it's obviously a great album.

Rapid Eye Movement is another great album, that doesn't seem to get the love it deserves.
Highly suggest it if you haven't heard any of their other albums.
