I`m Esteban Lagger the guitar player of the Infusion Kamachui group. I`m from Santa Fe, Argentina!

Infusion Kamachui INFO:

Fusion Rock band, born in 2005, in the city of Santa Fe Argentina. The group led by Pablo Ferreira (singer), Esteban Lagger (guitar - backing vocals), Iván Wolkovicz (bass) and Luciano Dato (drums) succeeded in getting their own and legitimate composition. Without loosing the power of rock, the band make their own trip around different genres, allowing the free expression to flow through.
Their first EP called “Don Gregorio Sessions”, was released in 2008. Shortly after, the band was awarded with a ‘Pocket Award’ for the best upcoming band.
Giving many performances in different cities, the band kept busy during most of 2008 and throughout 2009.
Since the beginning of 2010, the band has devoted their time to write their new concept-based piece of music, called "Equinoccio", a biparted album. The experiment increases its density and smooth out the previous concept of genres mixing. A new voyage is offered, revolving around themes such as self-opression and psicological states of the nowadays man, passing by the loss, the deprivation and the rescue.
The first part, ”Equinoccio I”, was released in the middle of 2011.

"Equinoccio I" is available in Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Equinoccio-Uno-Infusi%C3%B3n-Kamachu%C3%AD/dp/B0074B7QRI/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1328204529&sr=8-9)

Listen the first track of the album "AL Caer" (http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_7964786)

Hasta luego muchachos!

www.infusionkamachui.com.ar
Twitter / Ikamachui

Prog Recommendations/Featured albums : Allergic to neo-prog! :O

    Author: Warthur
Subject: Allergic to neo-prog! :O
Posted: February 04 2012 at 13:40

Well, if you like Fish's vocals I can recommend the other Fish-era Marillion studio albums - Clutching At Straws, in particular, I think is absolutely wonderful and possibly the equal of Script - and if you're really keen on his delivery then you're spoilt for choice when it comes to live albums from his tenure in Marillion. (You can get the Early Stages boxed set - 6CDs featuring five classic concerts - for a very reasonable price these days, and I think that's the best showcase for Fish's skills as a frontman.)

You could also try exploring Fish's solo material, though I personally don't think that got interesting until Sunsets On Empire and subsequent releases. (His latest, 13th Star, has been getting an awful lot of praise so that might be a good one to dip into.)

As far as neo-prog bands with that sort of emotive, dramatic vocal delivery go, that's a tough one. There are an awful, awful not of neo-prog groups who try to recapture the sound of Fish-era Marillion right down to the vocals, but so many people come up short.

So, recommendations:

- Any album by IQ with Peter Nicholls on lead vocals might be of interest to you - The Wake and Ever are particularly good places to start. Nicholls does not sound much like Fish, but like Fish he really gets emotionally into the songs he sings and gives it his all.

- Discipline from the US have an absolutely fantastic vocalist in the form of Matthew Parmenter, who's also put out a couple of well-received solo albums with the members of Discipline backing him. Unfolded Like Staircase is a good choice when it comes to Discipline, though I hear good things about their latest album... then again, pretty much any album by Discipline or Matthew Parmenter is a safe choice because they are a very, very consistently good band. Parmenter, again, doesn't sound much like Fish but as far as emotive singers with a theatrical edge to them go there's few better.

- Credo's lead vocalist sings in a style which is very much inspired by Fish, and manages to pull it off very credibly. Rhetoric is the best album of theirs I have heard, they've also got a newer one out which I haven't heard but which has had a decent reception.

- Steve Hogarth's tenure as singer in Marillion - which began after Clutching At Straws and continues to this day - is a love-it-or-hate-it sort of deal. Some people who enjoy the Fish era can't stand him, some are very happy with him. The big thing there is that whilst both of them are very emotive singers, they have very different ways of going about it - Fish's style I like to characterise as being expansive and performative, like he were an actor on stage baring his heart for the audience, whilst Hogarth is more intimate and personal, like he were taking you aside to confess a secret to you. If that sounds like the sort of thing you'd be interested in then Brave, Afraid of Sunlight and Marbles are probably your best picks there.

Re: Anglagard: Hybris is from 1992 so it's a bit old, but only half as old as Foxtrot or Close to the Edge. :)

Is it the atmosphere, Fish's vocal delivery, the guitar work, the keyboards? A better idea of what you are looking for might help us narrow down the recommendations a little. Might be an idea to check out the Script for a Jester's Tear review page in the database to see if any of the reviews jump out at you as chiming with your own experience of it.

I did quite enjoy the vocal delivery now that you mention it! :D I can't quite put my finger on it, it just sounds more authentic... Many of my favorite songs, I hated on the first listen, because I wasn't mature enough to aprecciate them. BIG MISTAKE :D)

Some more notes: I've listened to Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun. its slowly growing on me but I can definitely say it's an interesting album. Also listened to Hybris - Anglagard, but this is an old one isn't it?

Also, I dislike Radiohead immensely :D one of my least favorite bands actually, find them very very overrated and dull

EDIT: Listened to Haken's song 'Aquarium' and I must say I'm very pleasantly surprised... it didn't include any sort of growling which is a plus in my book and it was an interesting listen! I'll definitely acquire the album ;D Listening to 'Visions' at the moment, 7 minutes in, I'm liking the jazzy elements they throw in but let's see if it can hold its ground for another 15 minutes. This song is confuuuusing :)

Ok, 16 minutes in, gets a bit silly (sorta like Gentle Giant, but a bit heavier), but It's not too bad.

Wow, good finale... this sounded like an epic with a bit of Gentle Giant, Van Der Graaf and King Crimson! When you whine about people who pay "no taxes", they're actually paying taxes closer to 10-12%, and that's when they own nothing else that can be taxed.

//EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, if you live up in a state with a flat income tax of 4% and 7% sales tax, that's over 17% before anything else that you might get hit with. There are moments where Mike Oldfield produces this style and sound. Another artist named Steve Jolliffe released a cd in the early 90's titled Japanese Butterfly. He was originally a member of Tangerine Dream and appeared on Cyclone. He has other releases which represent the style you are looking for. I contacted him and all of his releases are available from his website and are only on cdr unfortunately. He released something called Journey Out of a Body which featured the late Tony Duhig from Jade Warrior. I believe you would truly enjoy his music. It's really a lot of research, but worth the time if you are interested.

Edited by TODDLER - Today at 12:25

It is a great introduction into this style. You can actually pick and choose from many of the artists featured on the double disc and proceed in purchasing their official releases if you like.

Another Jade Warrior title is "Breathing the Storm". Jade Warrior is a band that originally played rock music with an Asian twist. The early albums were okay, but I would recommend the Island period and a few of the later releases where the band dropped the idea of having vocals and focused more on instrumentals. The Hackett piece from "Spectral Mornings" is actually a lot like the Jade Warrior instrumentals from their period on Island records and their even later releases.

Stomu Yamashta composed a few pieces containing the style and sound. Try Red Buddha Theatre. Many of the artists who had the modern approach to the style you seem to like were pigeon-holed under the "New Age" catagory. This is questionable in many aspects. For example when artists utilized synth or strings to back up a Japanese instrument taking the melody line, most people defined it as "New Age". It's tricky because many of the artists were catagorized to be "New Age" and in the real world they were not. To make the distinction between the more artistic ones and the "New Age" fluff ones ,,,you may have to do some research.

Popol Vuh had touched upon music from India and Tibet. They seemed to be difficult to narrow down, but yet they often entered into a style which could be discovered on Jade Warrior's Kites. Popol Vuh were more spiritual and also displayed scattered musical references through out Asia. You might like their music. I have about 15 of their cd's and find myself playing their music when I enter this mind set. Try and sample their material. They have a huge catalog so ...obvously you cannot judge from hearing 4 or 5 samples of pieces.
