Not a simple poll at all!
...'cause it is absolutely impossible for me choose one -- I like them both, equally. Moreover, I have them on the single CD, so they are perceived as a single album.
They (Gnidrolog) have Gnosis, which I never heard, by the way...
Yeah, you forgot to add Gnosis to the poll. I haven't heard it either, but it's supposed to be fairly good. Out of these two, I think I'll vote for In Spite of Harry's Toenail, but both are good.

I kinda expected you to be first to answer... so what's your choice?

How are things?
Ha, that's interesting! Me first... Why, by the way?
I have no choice. I like them equally.
As for "things" -- you'll see it in a PM, later this evening ('cause I have to go now...)

I'll go for In Spite, 'cos I think Lady Lake will win this hands down!! Be careful which version yolu acquire as there are some gopod bonus one version.
Gnosis has only the opening track that's spectacular, then a bunch of correct tracks, but a bunch of stinkers as well;
The Live 72 is also a good album to get, even if the sound is a bit lo-qual and there are some excellent unreleased elsewhere tracks.
let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword

Both are outstanding specimens of 70s music at its best, although still criminally neglected (with the exception of a bunch of fanatic worshippers, of course ). My favourite is Harry's Toenail because it's raw, harsh, jagged, unpredictable and generally a bit more adventurous than the second. I even love the lo-fi bonus tracks on the Audio Archives release...
