I preferred him in KC - in the sense that I think that KC was a better showpiece for his playing - but I preferred Yes overall.

His solo stuff rules as well; One of A Kind ftw.

Same--but would add Fragile along with his work on CTTE.

Curious on your take as to why you feel Bruford held KC back? I'd argue they were their most eclectic with him on drums, unless you're not a fan of the material he played with them in general, in which case that makes sense.

I apologize, I think I used language that was too strong. He didn't "hold them back" but I do get a sense that Bruford was trying to prove himslef to be something that he wasn't. I feel like KC's sound would have been better served by a Carl Palmer jazz-fusion style drummer.

At the same time, Bruford's drum work on Yes is, in my opinion, more inventive and powerful than White's. White is very much a 70s dad rock drummer while Bruford had some John Bonham and Bill Ward energy to his sound (which admittedly, he brought with him on the Red album for KC).

King Crimson.  Bruford is a major reason I got into Crimson.

No preference, he was excellent with both bands.

Interestingly Fripp didn't like his drumming on Red (title track) Not 'metal' enough for the music, or something to that effect.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

KC mainly because of Red although his work on Fragile is almost as good.

Absolutely 100% agree with you. That’s also the reason why i’m reluctant to vote..,

This is difficult, because my favourite band is Yes (along with Pink Floyd), and my favourite line-up ever, from any band, is Yes on Fragile and CttE, but Bruford went even further with King Crimson.
