'The Real Frank Zappa Book' by Frank Zappa (with Peter Ochiogrosso) published in 1989 presents in a more or less chronological way storys of Zappa's life (private and professional) and reflections about the music business and society. You find the typical Zappa humour and as a bonus  some nice drawings. It's big fun to read, even if you are not a fan of his music.

In English Olivier, but it's translated in French I think. It's really fun to read.

Yeah, that's definitely a good book that's been written (in Esperanto..?) with Frank's approval.

What a great loss it was for the universe the demise of Uncle Frank.

It's truly a great book, I borrowed it from my hometown's library when I was at high school. Recommended! Smile

I received this as a christmas present this year.  The man is certainly intelligent, articulate, informed and funny.  There is some bitterness in it as well but mostly Frank seems to be a guy who would be a good friend if you got to know him.  (Even though he would probably write a song about you exploiting some idiosyncrasy about your character or habits)Wink
I really got a lot out of this book even though it is over 15 years old now.  The man was something special.

THE best book by or about musician(s) I have ever read.  Truly a fantastic read.  I enjoyed it from start to finish.  Everything he had to say was intelligent, informative, and hilarious.  I read it before I was even terribly familiar with his music, and I still enjoyed it immensly.

The title misleads one to believe it is a fake book.

I'm about halfway through it currently. Essential for the Zappa fan, recommended to anyone else.
