Gothic Kabbalah for sure
vovin, Theli, Sirius B and Lemuria are also great albums, but they are a bit different from their last.

Gothic Kabbalah. I don't know many Therion albums, but I listened to those which are most praised by the fans, and unfortunately I can't stand listening to any other than Gothic Kabbalah - which is surprisingly good!

I didn't like Gothic Kabbalah.. I seems less prog and more power metal to my ears. Maybe I need to listen to it again.

Deggial for me. The orchestral sections coupled with the guitar riffing is awesome on that album. Closely followed by Lemuria, Gothic Kabbalah and Sirius B. In that order.

I've heard everything except Gothic Kabbalah. I have to go with Theli.
BTW, if you're into Therion; you should check out Hollenthon. They're more of an RIO version of Therion.

Vovin and Lemuria/Sirius B
But Theli and Deggial are also great.
I was disapointed with Gothic Kabbalah, much more power than prog/symphonic

The Secret of the Runes, Lemuria, Sirius B, Gothic Kabbalah quadrilogy is incredible! I can't quite say which is the best, but I can't stop listening to Gothic right now. It's different, a little toned down as far as orchestra and vocals go, but it is an incredibly fun and exciting listen. My favorite for 2007 thus far. This band is undoubtedly brilliant, and they continue to innovate.

Tie between Theli and Secret of the Runes. Gothic Kabbalah was way too power-metallish for my taste.

Theli is very good though it gets tiresome near the end... Lemuria and Sirius B are overrated in my book. Gothic Kabbalah could be the best but the second disc is not as good as the first one. The best for me is DEGGIAL, with fantastic songs as the title track, Ship of Luna, and the masterpiece for dark forces, Enter Vril-Ya. I also prefer this more bombastic approach than the more heavy-metal-esque one they prefered in LEMURIA and SIRIUS B.

It's a very close call between Vovin and Theli. These days I've got a slight preference for Theli.

Listened to it today for the first time ... it's definitely a huge improvement over the previous albums in terms of musicianship, but the songwriting is still quite bland and lacks inspiration IMO. Also they're not able to successfully combine metal and classical/orchestral ... they oscillate between simplistic Accept/Scorpions riffing and oriental style classical bits, and on top of it all you get monotonous male choirs.

My favorite album is Theli, mainly because of To Mega Therion which hooked me to this genre (operatic metal).

^ would you still recommend albums like Theli or Vovin, now that you know many other bands and albums of the genre?

I got Gothic Kabbalh yesterday and yeah, the power metal bit is very obvious. I still liked what I heared. From their discography, I've only heard Gothic Kabbalah and Lepaca Klifoth. Both albums are quite good.

I feel like I am the only Therion fan who never really got into Theli. I haven't listened to it much, but I never seemed to like what I heard too much.
