Just listened to the napster stream and its definitely a step in the right direction. I like it much much more than Amp...still prefer FTM more, though I only heard it once. The energy is back, theres a good amount of varitey, and the songs go somewhere. The only thing against it would be its a little overlong. Those last two songs could have been trimmed for a better overall experience IMO.
I'll buy it at some point.

It's a really superb album. They finally stepped it up on this one.

The production is superb. It's far better than Amputecture, which had far too much treble and emphasis on vocals. The new album is more bass-heavy, like FTM, but more so. The rhythm section really shines and Omar's guitar work is as good as ever.
I've been listening to it non-stop since I got my promo copy, and I think it's easily my favorite TMV album, and for one reason: They finally figured out how to just ROCK. I was really sick of getting 40 minutes of amazing music on a 75 minute album, but Bedlam is absolutely solid. No filler at all, and no pointless 10-minute noise explorations. It's definitely faster/more aggressive than most of their other work, and they've really written some strong melodies (dare I say... catchy?). That's not to say that it has any more mainstream appeal than the others; the music is still unforgivingly complex. It's a very awesome and very powerful record, and still retains everything that made TMV good in the first place while doing away with some of the more annoying parts.

Sounds like a hell of an album, I cant wait to get my hands on this.

Excellent. I like the production on FTM the best of the three albums.
Thanks.

same here.... I liked.. sort of appreciated if you will.. the earlier efforts... yet when I saw the you-tube clips of some of the songs off of this over the holidays... I saw this was going to be the album that finally reeled me in as a fan. I don't listen enough to the earlier albums to really compare them other than.. hahha.. I like what I hear on this album.. and earlier albums didn't have 'it'. I'll be curious to know what my better half.. who is a big fan of the group has to say.

Not voting as I really feel all their albums have something different to offer up; probably one of my current favorite bands...however; if you want De-Loused, stay home and listen to it...honestly, if you can't move on, that's your problem.
It's the artists prerogative to be true to what they do...there's nothing in their contract stating they need to retain any sound/MO to fit strangers' expectations...we as listeners/appreciators should know this by now and not ask for anything save what we're given...if your argument then is that, "well, this is what they were like how can I NOT have expectations" stay home then, and listen to what 'they were like'; above all else, enjoy it, whatever IT is!

I don't feel they are progressing very well, in fact I don't see the album as a step forward at all. TMV are standing still, while the album was not bad i am dissapointed because it sounded too much like stuff they had already done.

Not really, but it is a good album nonetheless.

lol, How are we supposed to know that? I haven't listened to it yet, and don't plan on doing so until I have a jewel case and booklet in my hands.

Of course, it's a premature opinion and I heard it in a low-quality format in freenapster. Still, I am not excited with this album.
Luckily, the avant-garde is subdued a bit, but the vocalist is even more annoying than before and the music doesn't have as many memorable moments as in their previous album (the only MV album I enjoy)
Still, more listenable than their first 2 albums, and there are some good songs, the best being "Soothsayer" which sounds like ethnic musical exorcism.

I think it is really catchy.. I find Amputechture and Bedlam the two most catchy, because they're heavy and more "sure". I found the first 2 albums a bit "experimental", to try how Mars Volta were...
