I think Waterloo should be added to the archives because I think they
classify as Prog Rock. You can get info about them from this page:
http://www.alexgitlin.com/npp/waterloo.htm Sorry if this has already been dicussed but I did search the forums for "waterloo" and got no results. |

Yeah I've heard of the name- I think I read an article once that said 'First Battle' was the rarest prog record ever, but when the CD came out, bids for the album went down, and someone offered £1 for it!!

Waterloo is the first Belgian prog/psych band and would deserve inclusion here . Most of the members in Waterloo will be in later groups present in the Archives. Sound Quality is average, though. |

Bump.
Hi Guys, M@x received a PM from a new forum member suggesting this band Waterloo for the Archives. It appears that they were discussed a few years ago, but possibly were forgotten. Based on Hugues post I would say they this would be a band for the psyche/space team. But it was also suggested that there were similarities to Jethro Tull who are in Prog Folk, but since that is Hugues specialty, I presume that Prog Folk won't be the place for them. At any rate, thank you for your time in considering Waterloo for the Archives.

Waterloo should be in PA,no doubt about it.They sound a bit like Tull but have more of a proto prog sound.Lots of early classically dated Hammond organ also can recall The Nice,Beggars Opera and Cressida.
Some of their members went on to Pazop.

I am the one who sent M@x the e-mail.
I have a review ready for submission so I hope they can be included. Waterloo was also the first ever prog band from Belgium and I believe they still have a cult-status over there. Their debut was re-released on Musea in 2005 on CD. I am afraid my review is not good....... but my opinion is only one person's opinion. Include them in PA. |

Waterloo still not added. Is anyone in the PA staff secret relatives of Napoleon ? Don't be ashamed: I am a relative of Ghengis Khan.

Could you please suggest in which genre they could be included? If so, I will post a link to this thread in the appropriate team thread, and hopefully they'll get evaluated and added soon.

They probably should be here. My first reaction, however, wasn't a good one when I saw the thread title.
I thought you meant the Abba song was prog! |

I have to admit, I admire your persistence! Wish I could be this tenacious for the bands and artists I wanted to get included! (notably, Turkish artists from the seventies ) Anyway, now that the issue is brought to my team's attention (and another relevant team's, as Windhawk suggests), I'm on the issue, too. Already downloading the album, will give a listen and see if that's appropriate for psych-prog or not. If not, probably Heavy prog or Eclectic prog teams will take over, and I hope it will be resolved soon , thanks to Windhawk for his zealous work all around... Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret:
Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!) |

The HP team will evaluate the band as soon as possible, and hopefully they'll get added at last!

OK, I am happy to announce that Waterloo have been approved for addition in Heavy Prog. The actual addition is expected to take place in the next few days.
