i heard a few tracks out of curiosity: it's pretty mediocre, it sounds like a failed experiment and an attempt to sound serious.

^^But dude needs to re-think his wardrobe. Seeing him on VH1's Rock Honors in that open chested costume with his now sagging man boobs bouncing around was quite unseemly.

You gotta admire those guys in a way. It can't be easy being " Kiss" at their age. I mean, it's easy to do Prog as you get older. No one cares that Steve Howe looks like a wrinkled old shoe as long as he can still play. Paul's solo album from last year (?) "Live To Win" is some mighty fine hard rockin' from a 57 year old guy with an artificial hip and a heart condition".
Live fast, love hard, die young indeed.

Kiss can't. They can. I know it. Ever. No. Right now and among us. Be told. I deny this false implications and demand Kiss' addition. The reasoning behind it? That I think they should be here.

Love 'em - great band to see live, even they don't take themselves seriously & they understand Kiss is little more than a brand name these days (which Gene Simmons is extremely astute at marketing); less of a rock gig, more a circus, all power to them False. Live is just a facade for their real musical experiments. Prog is their second name and they have to be here. One reason: because I, a prog metal expert, demand it. However... we see hope... Is it right by the way that John Petrucci's bedroom wall is covered in Paul Stanley posters? It would explain a lot

Hmmm, would be kinda funny in terms of site policy if Music from the Elder were to be considered a prog album though.
After all, if a band release one full prog album they shall be added *chuckles*
Hmmm, now - how do we convince Britney Spears or Paris Hilton to issue a prog CD? Or even better, that teenage chick we can blame Billy Ray Cyrus for to make one?

But Kiss could be in the PA.
Well, not the American and world-wide known band, but a 70's French one that I discovered on a site a few months ago. They are described as progressive. I'm not sure what they sound like, but if they are really progressive, I'm already thinking of the face bycomers would do if they saw a magnificent "KISS" on the PA!

Dammit Mike, you're right - how could I have been so wrong?
The scales have dropped from my eyes & I understand now!
A true Damascene moment...
Forget Genesis, to hell with Gentle Giant... Kiss are the true pioneers of genuine progressive rock!!
All hail the god of thunder!
'Babe' is probably the greatest short, under-rated prog rock ballard of all time.
Truly - I am humbled

Despite Jim's arguments I think that they should be added because of
their progressive nature towards live performances and their influence
on the rock, power rock, power metal and disco scenes in the mid and
late 70s. If not for them we would not have a lot of music. Plus, the
cover for Destroyer is a helluva lot better than Love Beach. Kiss may
never have made a side long epic but a lot of their songs show
progressive tenancies, just listen to the speed change in "Shout It Out
Loud" or the troubadouristic qualities of "Detroit Rock City".
Be more open minded Jim. This is a progressive rock archive, not nazi Germany.

I'm not famillar enough with Kiss to make a judgement but to me they seem more like Zepplin and Sabbath than Yes or Genesis, but anyone can make one, rogue prog album... I'm tempted to listen to it, but I also don't want to pay for it if its just a kiss album with some keyboards and one track thats longer than five minutes.

Boston has two prog related moments. Foreplay/Longtime, the 8-minute song from the debut with extended soloing and instrumental sections and the 4-part, 12-minute Walk On Suite from Walk On. Other than that, they don't have a prog bone in them. But this isn't the Boston discussion, so Ill shut my trap

This thread made me to take "Music from The Elder" from the shelf and listen to it. Not a bad album at all. Though I'm far from suggesting Kiss to be added on PA.

Well, that reminds me a lot of the infamous "offer you can't refuse" ... Seriously, since I've been here I've seen everyone and their dog suggested for addition, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone came up with Kiss. On the other hand, I'm sure not even Micky would dare do anything of the sort. especially after Jim's masterful pronouncement .
