This is the long lost Soft Machine album! Dean was in and out of the line up around this time and used various Softies and others on his solo effort from 1971. The track Neo Caliban Grides, that was a regular in the Soft Machine set, first appeared on this album.
I guess with Dean being more of a 'free jazzer' than a jazz/rock fusioneer he and his eclectic and quite extensive discography wouldn't really qualify him for PA inclusion. But Just Us is an all time JRF/Canterbury classic...ok ok with a pinch of free jazz...and you really should seek it out. Enjoy! |

He and Marc Charig played on King Crimsons lizard and did some stuff with Keith Tippett. “Dedicated to you but you weren’t listening” is one of my favorite records. He was always in and around Prog.

Fun fact:
He was in Long John Baldrys blues/soul band with a young piano player called Reg Dwight...who took his future stage name (Elton John) from them! Yes he was in and around the prog/Canterbury scene but was always a free jazzer at heart hence why he, as a solo artist, wont be found on PA |
