Get him into the big names Floyd, King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Jethro Tull, ELP, Dream Theater, Spocks Beard (with Neal Morse), Marillion and so on.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

I've gotten a lot of my friends into prog. I got one of my friends (who loves KISS and AC/DC) into prog by lending him KISS's Music from the Elder. After that I lent him Over-Nite Sensation by Frank Zappa, and he loved it.

Maybe you could show your friend what good modern stuff there is with The Mars Volta or Mr. Bungle.

  • Jazz: play King Crimson, Caravan
  • Metal: play Dream Theater, Pos, Kamelot, Opeth etc...
  • Pop: play Genesis, Marillion
  • Mainstream Rock: play Arena
