Is Pink Floyd overrated?
Can't really find the words to answer... So I guess I'll just laugh at it!

I don't think everything Floyd ever did was incredible, but they are certainly not "overrated". That's a word that's thrown around a little too much and is very subjective. Whether or not you like something has no bearing on it being over/under rated. It would be more accurate to simply say "I don't like it" than to say its "overrated". Pink Floyd is/was one of the most influential bands in rock history. That is a fact.

I think the band is great and if anyone thinks I praise them to much that's to bad because I plan on doing it alot more.

I was just listening to the Japanese remastered "Animals" in the car... overrated is a term never to be mentioned in this albums presence!

I don't think Pink Floyd is overrated but "Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2" definitely is.

I couldn't disagree more, as PF are one of my all-time favourite bands. However, I agree with all the people who say that the use of the word "overrated" is quite meaningless. It's all down to personal taste. PA is chock-full of people who worship Genesis, while I'm not too keen on them: should I also open a thread to ask whether Genesis are overrated?
On the other hand, I think there are bands (though not in prog) which are definitely over-hyped, if not overrated: this is the case of Nirvana. I've never understood what the fuss was about.

overrated or not... just imagine Michael Jackson, who tours the world year after year and still sings the same Billy Jean or Thriller... you getting older, your childern grow up, and than they have children too, and their children grow up, and then your big big family, you and your children, and your granchildren, go to stadium or wherever and listen the same Michael Jackson, and he's fat and bold and not dancing anymore, and he still sings the same Billy Jean...
