I must have missed how Faust managed to win from both Neu! and Ash Ra Tempel.

Obviously the Can

I hope TD wins that one. Big smile  I like Floyd too but of the albums I've heard from each TD really blows them out of the water for my preferences.

Me too. Floyd is great, but they get too much fanboyism on these boards and I honestly prefer TD.

Goodness, I nearly missed this one.
Quite surprised to see how much Can is trouncing Faust.  Shame.  I appreciate Can but they often leave me cold.  I prefer Faust by a large margin.  Don't know that my preference is going to make much of a difference, though.

You preference won't make a difference when it comes to which band wins this, let's face it, Faust can not win (unless it makes a new deal with the Devil), o,r at the least, a "win" would be highly improbable. Faust has pretty much already kicked the can, or the Can has kicked Faust, whichever way one wants to express it.  However, if by you having stated your appreciation of Faust just one person comes to appreciate Faust or appreciate Faust more, then one might look at it as some kind of victory. I don't think either band had a real chance from the outset to win this contest, but what matters, I think, is that people may discover, re-discover, or re-evaluate music/ bands thanks to these polls.

I've discovered quite a lot of music thanks to polls that I might not have sought out had it not been for the polls. Sometimes the polls, and more specifically the posts, have led me to give music another chance, or dig deeper, which has led to much more appreciation (and sometimes less appreciation). I don't think the contest results matter nearly as much as that. I tend to look at polls as an accessory to discussion that can lead to great discoveries or new insight. Ultimately, I don't really care which one wins -- my tastes are not the most popular, and I'm fine with that, but many of us still strive to make our tastes more popular since we're enthusiastic about sharing our passions (and when we find like-minded people, we can recommend to each-other).

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Beautifully put, and I couldn't agree more.  This speaks to what I value about PA overall.

Curse you UndercoverBoy! Your brash challenging of my vote has left me conflicted and confused. At the time I was so confident, but I've been listening to Faust over the past few days and now I rather wish I'd voted for them. I just don't know which band I like better! CryConfusedAngry

Long story short, they're both amazing and it's a shame for either of them to get eliminated

Only very slightly familiar with Can; never heard anything from Faust. No vote.

I can only make the gap wider I'm afraid - But I like Faust too and up against many, they would get my vote.

I hope Can win this but I can't see it happening
Help me I'm falling!

Poll's over.  The winner of Round 1 Division 11 is Can.  Can will now move onto Round 3, and Faust is out of the tournament.  See you at the next match of Battle of the Prog Bands!
