two bands whom had similar status in thier respective decade, a crossover between pop on one side and art rock /ambisious rock, whom really could not be pin-pointed to any domain. They also have a Heavy pedagry, be it post-grunge /alternative or Heavy metal, two bands who explored every boundery in their popular Music landscape.

Queen.

Radiohead is a great band as well, but I believe it would be a bit more suitable to compare them to Pink Floyd.
This night wounds time.

I don't agree with your description of Radiohead and I don't think that there's much similarities to speak of between the two bands. Not even statuswise. From Kid A and on Radiohead has been a genuinely progressive band, taking rock music to places it hasn't been before. Can't say Queen did the same in their time (but I still enjoy them in smaller dozes. Especially Queen II).

Well, I like Radiohead the most.

KId A was my favourite Radiohead album until In Rainbows came out. Love those textures.
I'm quite fond of Queen and would say they are the best all round musical entertainment package ever and the visuals were as important as the music. Freddy Mercury is one the most amazing people to ever walk the planet. That said if its just about music then Radiohead is the band I would rather concentrate on but then that's just my taste for slightly depressing surreal music rearing its ugly head.

Queen II is the only ablum from the band I can get through.

Radiohead is groundbreaking and much more enjoyable to me.

Two entirely different bands.

Queen will be remembered for its intense, lush, in-your-face, effervescent art/glam rock. Freddie Mercury was one of the best vocalists in the whole world and across genres, and the band put their great technical skills to a very good use. Their broad tastes and versatile musicianship allowed Queen to make very impressive music in virtually all and any styles they could think of, ranging from heavy metal to disco to "traditional" jazz to psychedelic to country. Does it make them "prog"? Hmmm.

The bulk of Radiohead's body of work is minimalistic and kind of bleak, but certainly unique and experimental and therefore "proggy", that's what some people like. I'd be interested to see if anyone remembers Radiohead 20-30 years after they retire.

This (except for Pyramid Song and a few of the more experimental bits from Radiohead)

Radiohead, easily. I like Queen, but I don't love them. They've not made anything near as dear to me as any one of Radiohead's albums The Bends and on.

I don't hate Queen, I just have no interest in them.  I used to have no interest in Radiohead but I got into them about eight years ago thanks to Steven Wilson putting in the good word for them on his website at the time...

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

How can you possibly judge that? LOL What size of "best vocalists" group was he part of then?  50? 100?

On topic, I find it a pretty hard call because they both fulfill different needs of mine.  Queen is outright entertainment and Radiohead have the knack of bringing out uncanny, raw emotions.  I don't think they are particularly comparable anyway.  But I do know I don't like any Queen album as much as Kid A, so Radiohead it is.

This is difficult. I love Radiohead. But my childhood: listening to the radio, Queen's songs (new at the time) were always among the best: Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, Killer Queen, Bicycle, Rock You/Champions. Nostalgia or present day?... Going with nostalgia this time...
