Not sure whether a poll is the best way of expressing my sorrow for the loss of Jack Bruce today. Both died too young. Both virtuosos of the bass guitar. Both able singers as well.

Sorry, but the sad death of Jack Bruce does not alter the fact that he was nowhere near as good as John Entwhistle.

Both were very different musicians, can't be compared in the same way. Sad news.

when you get done with Cream, check out his substantial solo and collaborative work in the 70's and beyond. Personally I like it as much, if not more, than his celebrated work with Cream.

Start with Songs for a Tailor and Harmony Row. MAGNIFICENT albums.

Entwistle was a better bass player, but Jack was a phenomenal singer.  Especially back in the days.  I vote both.

Not sure but I think something like this was already posted....but imo it's Bruce since he wrote more quality music, was in early jazz blues bands as well as Cream, had better solo albums , and was a far better singer.
Having said that I don't think either one was 'better' than the other as far as being good on the bass.

Both were excellent bass players. I like the Ox's Style and tones better than the Bruce. But that's all.

Both of them were excellent musicians.
I would favour Bruce who was a much more versatile and very prolific artist.
Also, because the music of The Who has never been of much interest to me apart from Entwhistle's bass lines.

In memory of Bruce I listened to Cream "Live Vol I" and - as always - it blew me away.

Both are equally great but I voted Entwistle on personal preference grounds.

Bruce was the more musical of the two, and easily the better vocalist and songwriter, so I give him my vote, but Entwistle had techniques and chops that were unparalleled.

Both fine (to say the least!) but Jack was the composer while John was not. He was more of a novelty song writer providing witty cameos to Townshend's big ideas. Great how both Jack and John could contribute such dynamism and detail in playing though.

One of my Top 10 favorite albums of all time.

And I'm voting for Jack in the poll.
