Cat Food is a terrible track....and consists of a ripped off baseline from The Beatles "Come Together" (discuss)

The influence of Come Together is unmistakable, but I wouldn't call this song terrible. In fact, I love the song from the moment when Lake shuts up (usually I like his vocals, but not here).
Talking about KC and Come Together, what to think of Ladies of the Road? A brilliant Beatles pastiche, I would say, with a similar baseline - in 9/8.
Cooee! if we over analyze stuff, everything sounds similar or familiar, infact considering you are stating that Cat Food is a copycat from the Beatles - Come Together, this was not an original Beatles tune either, it is copied from Chuck Berry  -"You Can't Catch Me" (From the 1956 film Rock, Rock, Rock!)   Wink Chuck's record label sued Lennon and they won.

Cat food. Easy choice.

Can't think of any GG song that tops anything on the first 7 KC albums. Sorry.

^^OK, then Cat Food and Ladies fo the Road are 2nd generation copycats from Chuck Berry; this lawsuit is a hiatus in my knowledge of rock history.
Another lack of originality of the Beatles laid bare, after the My Sweet Lord is So Fine-case against George Harrison: Big Seven smelled big money.

Hold the front page "70's Rock band vaguely influenced by massively influential predecesors - shock horror, scandal, disaster OMG!!"

oh no that does not define The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club, to Revolver and The White Album! They were groundbreaking in every single way :) xxxxx

Cat Food again! Don't care if it sounds like Come Together really, the worst part about it is the similar melody. Greg's laughter, Pete's lyrics, and Keith's piano are what really make it Smile

For me, it's the other way round.

I used to dislike both bands intensely, but now GG are amongst my favourites. KC aren't.

Absolutely not the same to me, both have jazz fusion elements KC even more so in comparison to both these tracks, only similarity might be the vocal approach of pampara papapara..., instrumentally I cannot hear a distinctive similarity.   Anyway a hug to you Hug BarryGlibb xxx

Thanks for the hug and the 3 kisses Kati. (Are you really the lady in your avatar?) I wouldn't want you to be a man hiding behind that image...........Anyway,........

the similarities on Cat Food and Come Together are in the basslines not the melodies (Cat Food IMHO doesn't have one; a melody that is; if it does, it's bad....... IMHO!) .

Come Together's bassline is not featured in Chuck Berry's song and is more to do with the similar melodies and the "Come on Flatop" lyric that they were sued for.

Hugs and Kisses back to you too Kati.
