Wasn't planning on thinking it through, so I won't, hoped to copy paste from you guys, but really I couldn't find a real gem amongst your contributions, what a poor year it must have been.

Vortex, was a decent album, Eloy created Silent Cries, and maybe SUpertramp was around, and than there is nothing.

But than again there's always Iceberg with Arc-en-Ciel, Isn't that a great album, really that's the best of 1979, thanks to this thread I am listening to a great album, wonderfull... really a poor year. But like the Titanic said, there's always an iceberg to clash into.

Very nice list - I especially adore your inclusion of Laurent Thibault and Tubeway Army.
Oh and no Chrome Half Machine Lip Moves, Ian? Would've thought these crazy guys were at the top of your list.

Just The Wall for me. '79, IMO, was not a very good year for prog.
