I knew there was a great album under there! I've just recieved the 2013 Radiation remixed/remaster edition and it's awesome. What's your take on this lesser loved Marillion album?

I got it when it was new, enjoyed it, though not as much as Afraid Of Sunlight.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

It's a fine album overall (3 stars), a bit more raw, and maybe not as complex as their surrounding albums, but enjoyable regardless. I also bought the 2013 remix, on LP, and can't say how much it differs from the original recording. I haven't heard that one for years.......
I don't have all their albums, but this one beats Eden for me.

This was the album that ended my interest in them as a band...

until Marbles and Sounds That Can't Be Made rekindled my interest

Why would you need a remix of an album that wasn't released as an LP and then released not remixed on CD?

^ Because the LP is remixed, and the CD that wasn't initially released remixed, is now remixed on LP.....
.......and it's a 3 sided LP in translucent blue, but it's still round.......go figure
The fourth side actually has a nifty looking star-like etching. I haven't played this side yet.....

The CD is also remixed  and is available on Snapper. It also contains the originally mixed album as bonus disc for comparison. The difference is night and day. The music on the remix can actually breath.

I have no problems with the original mix and don't like the album enough to go for a remix, but sometimes there is a benefit to not having gotten the original.

Radiation is a gem for me...Sure more poppy, IDC though.....It's still Marillion. Some well written songs on this album, the playing is very good and H vocals are super nice......I really enjoy song like These Chains and Born To Run.
And yea the blue vinyl is very cool.....
