oh yeah no doubt Clap

THat's as maybe. But, it really doesn't help having a commanding officer who spends most of hims time in the mess arrogantly bragging about the superiority of the Rio forces.  Or, and I have seen this to, vainly preening and shining his boots up to a standard to which he can see his own reflection (to check his buttons and medals) in.

So much more important to lead your troops into battle if in reality, you are starting from the bottom of the hill!

true... but the lifespan of front line commanders are notoriously short.  They make mighty big targets LOL

The smart ones like Ivan sip wine while the grunts drink piss and do the fighting for you. Unfortunately the Rio-Avant army needed front line commanders for they don't have many grunts to do the fighting.

Oh look, bracket updates!

http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?tid=456329

With one round officially in the books, we have checked our records and we are down to one perfect bracket from player Anonymous. Rumor on the street is another fellow (gal?) is one off from a perfect bracket. This fellow may have voted with his heart rather than his head in the Camel/DSO matchup. Pinch Better luck next time.

Round 2 matchups are underway. Vote, vote, vote away! And may the best heavy prog band win!

OK Pals, El Jockey Club del Perú, gives the pronostics

Yes will meet Zappa in one regional semi-final

Zappa will die again Cry

Gong will meet Rush in the other regional semi-final

Relatively close, but the odds are 1.25 to 1 in favour of Rush

Camel will meet Gentle Giant in one regional semi-final

Comfortable win for Gentle Giant, even when I'm voting for Camel (because of Monmadness)

- AD II will meet Pink Floyd in the other regional semi-final

Bye bye ADII, the mighty Floyd will wipe the floor and avenge Kansas

LOLClap

nice my friend.  I see only one of these really being close. I think Gong/Rush is the only one that might go to the bitter end. Though nothing related to Camel would surprise me LOL That one might be closer than I think it would. Not a blowout but a comfortable win for GG.

I think Camel fan was the desperate one man.  Losing to ELP?  Camel would have indeed been demoted from 2nd division prog band to 3rd for that dubious distinction.

desperate?  hah. Don't doubt for a second that ELP wouldn't have won that if we were desperate enough TO win it. Wink I kid you not Ian,  I know of at least 7 ELP votes that I could have gotten if I called in the reserves.  Funny thing is I would have if it hadn't been so close, in fact ELP still leading as late as Thursday. General Micky thought it might win without throwing in the reserves and come Friday when Camel surged ahead, it was simply too late and besides..  the point had been made. The objective really wasn't to win.. .it was to show and show well.

Why do you think pop music is so popular.. same with Camel's generic prog..  it appeals to those with little discrimination or real tastes in music. LOLLOL How else do explain Camel beating ELP.  Now ELP and prog music.. that is not music for the masses, but those who really appreciate music.  Thus ELP were not likely to win a popularity contest.. especially against the bubble-gum prog of Camel. However they made it very close.  I am proud of the forum, they stood up and said ENOUGH.. not enough perhaps.. but enough to make Camel fan sweat LOLLOL

As some one that doesn't like either band, I enjoyed just sitting back and watching the fireworks with my popcorn.

LOLClap that my friend was the REAL intent. Wink

We all know ELP is the better, the more important, and greater band and we didn't need a poll to show that. Just as we knew Camel was the more popular with the light in their loafers proggy crowd.. and we sure didn't need a poll to show that haha

Just noticed there is no space for Cardiacs in this competition! Shame it would be interesting to see how many Cardiacs fans there are and how they might do against AOR like Kansas.

bah. Careful?  Next you be saying I should be a responsible polite driver. How boring would the PA's roads be then. Besides..

I've survived many high speed collisions here.  I've got really good insurance....with no deductible. Clap
