Just joined - haven't done the forum thing in years but I found this one VIA a google search (trying to remember a Jethro Tull rip off band i'd forgotten the name to) and I was surprised to find a place dedicated to my absolute favourite genre of music.
 
my all time favourites are:
 
Marillion - esp Misplaced Childhood
Genesis
Tangerine Dream
10CC
Pink Floyd (of course)
Jethro Tull
 
edit to add Strawbs!!!
edited again to add Van Der Graaf Generator (and PH)
 
the usual stuff ... I don't know much off the beaten path but i'm powerfully attached to the bands I do know on every level.
 
nice to meet you all - glad to be here - looking forward to discussing the best music ever made.

Welcome to our little neck of the internet.  If you are so inclined there are plenty here who will gladly lead you off of the beaten path, but there is nothing wrong with sticking with the classics either.

thanks - i'm always open to suggestions - I've already seen a lot of names i'll be checking out - but the classics .. I definitely have a deep emotional attachment to those.

Far more Nash on his own than FM but Phasers on Stun is a pretty cool tune.

Welcome.  This is an odd group.  Our tastes are obscure in most settings, but, here, I feel downright vanilla.  More of a Yes, Rush, Tull, DT kind of guy here, but people give so many suggestions on where next to explore!  I'm sure you will find the same.
