I wonder if there is a good documentary on Italian prog?  Even if
it was just a narrator and clips/still photos, it would be nice to see it.

I saw two that seemed like they were, but were just some live footage.
I would like to see a good documentary with narration.  I think anyone
could do one today who had enough facts.  There is so much media online.

This "Inside" series doesn't do a very good job. VDGG was much like "Inside Genesis: The Gabriel years." They spend a good amount of time on the beginning of the group, realize the clock is ticking and spend less time on each subsequent period. Here they spend nearly all of the first half on one song, "Darkness." When we get to Godbluff it hurried and then the show is over. Wait, what? So I am to believe that's where the story ends? Not going to get excited about any more rock docs with "Inside" in the title.

The inside VDGG was decent, until it cut away after Godbluff. I would have liked to know what they though of the stuff from Still Life onward.
He looks at this world and wants it all... so he strikes, like Thunderball!

My point exactly. These documentarians don't budget the allotted time very well.

Thanks for posting, I haven't seen it so I'l surely check it.

BTW there was a thread about prog documentaries (well not only prog)

As for RPI, our fellow member Andrea would be the ideal person to make one, that would be great! Tongue  nowadays with a bit of patience, collecting video material and stuff from several sources, and a video-maker software, anyone of us could make his own documentary!

I guess, from noticing the ranking it gets, that a Big Generator documentary wouldn't go over well . . .Dead

As it has been pointed out, the distribution of the available time is crap, it's as they only had 'Darkness' material to talk about and they rush or neglect all their other stuff. I'm aware that it's not a band with a lot of footage to choose from. Of course it's always good to have it but it could have been a much better doc.

I just enjoyed that there existed a docu, as there are very few of those, and one could only wish if someone made a real effort to make a true and honest overview docu on VDGGs music, i find it was infromative, in how the band solved things instrumentaly, and how the band thought about each instrument, and how they worked inside the band.

It is better then the Inside Supertramp edision Ouch
