I have a print of this Rembrandt in my library. The song "Night Watch" is perhaps the best lyrical composition King Crimson ever wrote.

Fracture is the perfect ending of this perfect album. It took me a while to appreciate it as much as most of their other classic era releases but now its among my two or three favorite albums if theirs.

Not King Crimson's best album by a long way, but The Night Watch has always been my favourite. The atmosphere on it is just mind-blowing... I don't see what the big deal is about Fracture to be honest. I more than appreciate it as a difficult guitar piece, but I don't get excited when it starts playing.

I agree...Night watch and Great Deceiver are excellent and I think Fracture is missing something for me..a proto typical heavy KC 'exercise track' that misses the mark.

I love this album. This and Lark's are the best. I voted for Fracture. I could've just as easily voted for We'll Let You Know, and I wish I did because it has no votes yet, which is to my great surprise.

"Fracture" for me.
Other highlights: "The Great Deceiver", "Lament", "The Night Watch", "Trio"

Any folks happen to notice certain 'funky' elements on this album ?? I guess mainly on We'll Let You Know. Wetton is actually pretty heavy-handed on this album.

^Yes, I noticed the funky element on We'll Let You Know. I wouldn't like it if it were too funky, but it wouldn't be. It's Crimson. Anyway, John Whetton really shines on this piece. Instead of providing the timing for everyone else to play over, he's playing mainly in all the gaps between other peoples notes or vice versa. It seems to give some feeling of syncopation even though I don't think much of it is genuinely syncopated.

Great, very underrated album, though definitely a more demanding listen than either LTiA or Red. Never been a big fan of "The Night Watch", but in my book "The Great Deceiver" ranks as one of the strongest album openers ever, and possibly Wetton's best performance as a vocalist.

AGREE. This album is "Very Underrated" and "The Great Deceiver" is my choice.

Yes - more 'groovy' too. And Bruford is pretty suave on this piece too.

Actually, that piece kind of reminds me of the title track to Zappa's Apostrophe, which had a similar kind of funk to it.

Tough call between "The Night Watch" and "Fracture". I've reached that cul-de-sac again; however, since "The Night Watch" isn't faring as well as "Fracture", I'm voting for it.
