Hi,
Way too different for my tastes, but I would say that their exploratory nature is way up there. Did not vote, as I like Robert's "childishness" (my word for it) in what he does, and while I like KC, there are times when I think there is way too much "composition" here and there, for me to appreciate the freedom and the ability to go where no one has been. Based on the book by Wyatt (Different Every Time), I would think he is much more interesting and special all around, but it's hard to not appreciate Robert Fripp, in the current incarnation of KC and the incredible quality they put into the work which is, likely, even better than many of the originals themselves.

Guess I missed this topic when it came out two years ago.
If it were personal preference, much as I like Fripp I would certainly go with Wyatt, but to answer the poll question, I definitely think that Fripp is the bigger icon of prog. |

^ Yeah, but that does not answer my question: what did Wyatt have to do with the Frippertronics?

Errm... what's difficult about that? Wyatt was on Matching Mole, and through producing that MM album Fripp and Eno got together....

Robert Wyatt. Robert Fripp produced the second Matching Mole album (apparently unnerving Phil Miller in the process), and it was there that he met Brian Eno and shortly thereafter the pair made No Pussyfooting. So Wyatt was the unwitting progenitor of Frippertronics!

^ Voted for Wyatt as I have more solo albums by him. But I really like both. But Wyatt is far too important a figure to only have a handful of votes. |
