No idea where to place them yet (Heavy, Eclectic), but has anyone proposed and/or tried Light Damage from Luxemburg already? I got a promo for reviewing and I was actually surprised about what I heard.... Influences of Genesis/Marillion, but also heavy guitar work, and quite surprising song structures.

This is what is on Youtube, I can provide full tracks if a team wants to evaluate - first guess Eclectic...

Managed to check out some more tracks on YT on top of the one you've posted, all great. Thumbs Up

Definitely heavy, definite neo influence. May actually be a case of neo or heavy rather than eclectic or heavy. I would love the teams to check these guys out.

More info about this band at the following links:

"LIGHT DAMAGE formed in September 2005 at the meeting of Seb (drums) and Steph (guitars) to the Prog-Resistant annual convention at the 'Spirit of 66'. They quickly put in contact with Nicholas John (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Fraydd (bass) and began to improvise and be known on covers of Genesis and Pink Floyd, among others.

The first keyboard player is a friend of Steph: Chavy. After a few months, LD made his debut with some small concerts and festivals personal compositions by mixing the times. In April 2008, many fans are added through the experience of a night at the Festival Tribute Arlon as the Brain Damage (dedicated to Pink Floyd).

Chavy, involved in many musical projects decides to leave the training and will be replaced by Chris quickly. At this time the group is focusing on new compositions. Between January and late March 2009, the band recorded five self-produced demo securities to achieve "ACRONYM".

The music of Light Damage is closer to progressive rock than any other but detaches from the 70s prog The wide range of influences of the group in combination with subtle concepts in the structure of the songs and the lyrics, mean that the music is original yet accessible.

The departure of founding drummer encourages Member LD to organize a hearing. Thibaut aka Titi happens in the group and quickly gives a new rhythm style to pieces. The new compositions are enriched.

End of 2012, Chris is going to turn to other musical adventures (Dream the Other) and is replaced on keyboards by Sébastien (multi-instrumentalist, active member of the Ban de Chevigny).

With this new line-up, 2013 is the year of rewriting and rearrangements of songs, as well as the drafting of new equipment with the main project recording an album completed in October 2014. Release of the album "Light Damage "for the ... 31/10/2014

... With Chavy back in temporary replacement for concerts."

http://fr.ulule.com/light-damage/ (crowdfunding for 500 copies of CD in jewel case - successful 29 March 2014) - CD released 31st Oct 2014.

Digipak due early next year via Progressive Promotion Records.

"Do you have our CD at home? Format "Jewel Case" (plastic pouch with transparent background)? If so, we inform you that there have been 500 in all and that there will be no more, so you have a "collector" hands. Indeed, we found a distributor (Progressive Promotion Records) and future copies of our album released in digipack. This is very good news for us because our album will benefit from a much better visibility and a much better promotion.

We still have copies "Jewel" and there will also be some on the website of Progressive Promotion Records http://www.progressive-promotion.de/ a few days so if you want one, be aware there will not be for everyone.

Starting in mid - december our album should be available on the downloading platforms: Itunes, virginmega, fnacmusic, along mixradio music ( ex - ovi ), Realnetworks, musiwave ( microsoft zune / xbox music ), Emusic, music net / medianet, rhapsody, deezer, amazon. Com, 7 digital, shazam, spotify, folks, beezik, simfy. Com, rdio, omnifone, zvooq ( zimbalam ), Google play music, aspiro music ( wimps ), Digicopy / fnac jukebox."

LOL!  I was in the Crossover team for six months from January 2013 to July 2013...Loved it too, but was considered a bit too lenient with my voting, and jumped ship before I got pushed overboard!!  LOL

Welcome to progarchives Frederik!  Hug  With two 'yes' votes and one 'move' (from Matti), it looks like Light Damage is already cleared for inclusion in Neo Prog sub genre.  Approve  I'd be interested to know where the 'move' vote was for...I'm guessing it was for Heavy Prog.  Embarrassed

Hello guys...

I may say that LD is kind of a neo prog band, with  sometimes a "heavy" riff... But for myself, i could say that Steve Rothery is one of my favorite guitar player, as well as Gilmour... No new stuff under the sun, here... ;)

Thanks for looking after us, guys... ;)

Mausroth and Fraydd, welcome to the Prog Archives to you both.  I had a chance to review your album and it's fantastic, I really enjoyed it.  I think we're good on the voting and should have you added shortly to the Neo genre.  Welcome on board.
