Led Zeppelin.  One of my earliest and strongest musical loves.  Still listen to them regularly.  Yes and Crimso would be next, more or less a tie for 2nd.

I often hear Deep Purple influence in the final fantasy battle themes which tend to have a very driving feel like highway star. There is also a song called "Maybe I'm A Lion" after the similarly named Deep Purple song. While not bearing a ton of resemblance to the original, it has some organ parts reminiscent of Jon Lord's hammond playing.
