Genesis as they have more classic albums though I love Renaissance too.

Even though I like Renaissance a lot, I couldn't imagine not voting for Genesis in this poll.

I can't stand Genesis and I've never understood why people likes them so much. Apart of The Lamb and Revelation, I can't resist to a full album. On the other hand, even if they have no chance, Renaissance is one of my all time favorites and the Live at Carnegie Hall is my favorite live ever. Only Colosseum live can compete

Do I get some kind of an "Early Voter" button?
I suspect the playing field here is heavily tilted towards Genesis, but I have voted for Renaissance, and here is why:
Renaissance must be one of the least irritating bands on this Planet. At the same time I can't think of a single Genesis album that doesn't bother me in some way. Their older albums feel too lengthy. I find their 1980s albums mildly boring. The Invisible Touch, strangely, would be my favorite Genesis album, but the all-pervading drum machine imparts a faint "cheesy" odor to it .
Everyone knows what Ms. Haslam singing is like; no need to expound any further. At the same time PG vocals is not something I would like to hear, if I can help it; not sure why, though. Phil Collins is more agreeable, but his overall showmanship style feels "too cute" at times |
I feel the exact opposite. While I dig the occasional musical outburst from them, I start crawling the walls whenever Annie opens her mouth. I find that extremely irritating. |
I, too, find Renaissance irritating, irritatingly dull that is! Genesis gets my vote here, and very easily too!

Always felt Genesis a bit overrated since I first visited the forum, never was a fan of Gabriel's works and don't appreciate his singing style. Perhaps with an exception made for TLLDOB, I don't feel me keen on their music, tbh till the nineties I was kinda keen on them as I used to listen quite a bit to some of their 'LPs' (ATOTT, ATTWT and lately The Lamb), but I didn't know almost nothing of progressive rock at that time compared to what I know today, with the help of PA obviously On the other hand I DO connect emotionally with the instrumental parts of Renaissance, more today than yesterday.

I wish I could vote for Renaissance, truly, ... but there's that part of my brain that reminded me: "Hey, Jack, remember the '69-'73 period of Genesis? ... Are you coo-coo? "
