Prog artists often seems to have a little more integrity than other génres - maybe that´s why there are so few prog christmas albums out there. ( And it´s nothing that i´m sorry about!! Smile )
 
Right now I can only think of one really good album - and that is Jethro Tull Christmas Album. It doesn´t feel rushed or predictable as these albums often do. And maybe it´s the last thing we will hear from JT since Ian Anderson seems to create music only in his own name nowadays?
 
Those who appreciate the later albums from Moody Blues may find their christmas album December listenable too?
 
But when it comes to Blackmore Night......    Dead
...and Chicago...   Dead Dead
 
Well....anyone here who have other examples?

A vision of mine is to see the original Jethro Tull Christmas EP's released in a box set with the original covers/sleeves ..along with many bonus tracks from those 70's sessions and possibly unreleased material. The box set could include a lovely enjoyable booklet to read on the history of the Jethro Tull Christmas EP's and a dvd featuring a chat with Steve Wilson, Ian Anderson, and Santa Claus.

I am not interested in christmas albums at all, prog or not, but I remember having heard the Horslips album Drive the Cold Winter Away last year. A decent album.

I was thinking that the Bulgarian Women choir (never know their name!) would be a good one, and the other is the album by HORSLIPS.
 
A lot of the Brittish folk/rock scene has an incredible amount of holiday music for every holiday including hard-ons!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Stuff like 50 Words For Snow and Wind & Wuthering work pretty well in Christmas, but can't think of any albums other than Jethro Tull's (and Moodies) solely about Christmas...

The ELP Xmas EP is my favorite music from the band....and Father Xmas is my favorite Xmas "carol".  Simply lovely stuff....can't say the same for any ELP beyond the first album.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

Neal Morse and friends did A Very Proggy Christmas album that was released a few years ago. I heard a couple of tracks yesterday for the first time including Shred Ride ( based on Sleigh Ride) and Frankensence based on Edgar Winter's Frankenstein but with some Christmas themes worked in. Good fun.

I love the Beatles Christmas flexis, which they recorded for their fan club every year from 1963 to 1969, then in 1970 they were all collected into probably the best Christmas album by any band listed on PA.  Not necessarily all music, but very entertaining.

Have this on cd with bonus tracks that are out-takes. I like Paul McCartney's acoustic Christmas songs and the strange chat between John and Yoko toward the end of the 69' message. "I'll be a good boy mommy...as long as you get me a teddy bear". Very sad to hear the 4 of them talking and laughing care-free..at a time when tragic events of their future were distant by years.

There is a ton of classical Christmas music, just google for it.  There's also a major selection in one YouTube vid.
Now, all we need is some prog bands to do versions of these songs, and we are set for life  Smile

I have always felt Tull's Songs From The Wood is very appropriate for Christmas, though not strictly christmas themed, Solstice Bells is really my favorite Christmas song of all time
