Another great voice fell silent forever... Unhappy

His cover of "With A Little Help From My Friends" was just divine. RIP.

Oh that's too bad, saw him on Ronnie Lane's Appeal Tour in '82, he was a wonderful performer.

Woman to Woman was a great tune as well.
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Never been a real fan, but the Mad Dog surely has barked himself a well-deserved place in Rock history with his unique voice. His version of With a Little Help from My Friends is one of the few covers I like more than the original.

RIP

Sad news indeed. Great voice, and yes I absolutely adore him with the Grease band

Btw I merged the two RIP threads into one. No sense in having two

I personally prefer his cover of Traffic's "Feelin' Alright" as well, despite being a Traffic fan.

I think McCartney agreed - he sent JC a telegram congratulating him on recording the "definitive version"

Here it is in all its glory:

One of rock & soul's greatest voices finally stilled.

Woodstock made his name but he was so much more.  Those first few albums with the Grease Band are absolute classics.  I also recommend the lesser known Stingray with Stuff as the backup band.  I bought it a few weeks ago after not having heard it for yonks.....he was a great interpreter and performer.  Woodstock was just a sliver of what this giant did over his career.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....
