Indeed. I am very curious as to what Muse will come up with next.

I think there was an interview a while back indicating that they wanted to go back to their roots, back to rock. Of course, that was a long while ago, and I very much doubt they'll lose the stadium focus and over-produced polish of late. But it would still be interesting- they'll been heading further and further in one direction for several albums now, they've gotta change something up.

Absolution - 100% rock
Black Holes - 50% rock 50% pop
last two albums have been predominantly pop based imo

naturally Absolution is my favourite so I would like to see more of a return to that style although I think its more likely they will go further into the pseudo dance/pop direction.

To me their current formula of electro-pop plus pseudo-classical theatrics has its seeds in Absolution, but yeah, only appeared properly on Black Holes and has grown ever since, replacing more and more of the rock element.

There's also a new Tomas Bodin going to be released soon. Pretty sure there will be a new TFK too.

The not so progs I'm looking forward to:
PJ Harvey, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, Demoncy & Summoning.
I've created an atmosphere where I'm friend first, boss second. Probably entertainer third.

Some more news on the non-prog front: my friend who's a big Red Hot Chili Peppers fan tells me they'll be dropping a new album, and The Libertines might have one together later in the year.

What?  No mention of the forthcoming reissue of the John Greaves and Peter Blegvad classic 'Kew. Rhone.'?  Blegvad has already published the accompanying book.

I'd say their last two albums contain elements of music that is currently popular, rather than being pop-based.

I'd even suggest that it is not unlike Rush experimenting with new wave and world styles of music in the 80's, which was popular at the time. Muse is dabbling in electronic and even dubstep styles of music, which is popular, but not pop.

I'm not inclined to argue as I do like Muse and I enjoy what they do but 'pop' is not just one thing anyway. My feeling is that Muse have moved away from the darker rockier edgy alternative stuff and more into mainstream. That's fine . Don't get me wrong. I'm also a fan of Muse and like what they've done. Smile

But you'll never catch me dropping $150 on concert tickets. Cry

The only release I'm aware of is Beardfish - +4622- COMFORTZONE which actually comes out today in Europe I believe.  The rest of the year will just have to be a surprise!
