2 tracks by the Electric Light Orchestra, both heaven-related. Xanadu was the band's first UK number one, but Shangri-La is more orchestral/proggy, and much less disco.

Thanks for any feedback Big smile

I also prefer ELO's Xanadu version over ONJ's. Smile

I prefer Rush's Xanadu over both. By far. Wink

I cannot vote. The idea to mention ELONJ's Xanadu in a prog poll leaves me puzzled Confused (to use an euphemism). The other track sounds like a cheap imitation of a Beatles song penned by Paul McCartney in an over-sentimental mood.

PS I always liked ONJ's looks more than her musical output.

I was fan at one point too. Years later I heard some of her songs and realized how thin her voice actually was.

Xanadu is the absolute worst song I have heard that ELO has ever created  (imo)
and I have their first seven albums so I will have to  go with

Shangri-La

Shangri-La.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

Xanadu :)

Energy should count for something. Shangri-la is sticky like good glue.

Shangri-La easily. Does kinda sound like Paul McCartney though. This band is pretty good and I grew up with their songs, but honestly very little real prog. Even like El Dorodo is symphonic pop.
