My name is Alan. Nice to be here. :o)
I come from Wales, in the United Kingdom, and I am a very big fan of King Crimson, Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull. I don't really know much about other prog rock bands, but am willing to explore. :o)
I also like metal (Finntroll and Iron Maiden I adore) and am also an inexhaustible lover of industrial, with Laibach, Rammstein, Nine Inch Nails and Einstürzende Neubauten being my personal favourites.
Music tastes aside, I'm a student by occupation and an anorak for church bells.
There is definitely plenty of music around for you to discover, especially some very exciting new stuff. Keep your eyes peeled for what is getting a buzz around the forums. Plenty of us are at your disposal for recommendations as well.

Hi Alan, welcome.
I am relatively new here myself I guess.
Like you, I am a huge fan of Pink Floyd (all eras) and King Crimson (mainly the pre-'Discipline' albums). I've never listened to much Jethro Tull but I should check them out considering that many people have told me good things about them.
I am also a huge Einsturzende Neubauten fan, I love them so much. They truly changed the way I thought about music, more than any other band. Some of Laibach's music is great too, I love their earliest works from 1980 to 1984. With Nine Inch Nails it's the opposite, I like the latter albums more than the earlier ones. My favorite NIN albums are 'With Teeth', 'Ghosts' and "Hesitation Marks'. I also absolutely loved the How To Destroy Angels album 'Welcome Oblivion'.

Thanks, everyone. And a very interesting video, Windhawk!
@KingOnly: Thank you. I'm not sure if you did, but a great way to start with Jethro Tull is their album A Passion Play. And it's nice that we share some similarities in music, as well, since I like Nine Inch Nails' newer stuff as well. Speaking of How to Destroy Angels, I used to listen to them a lot at one point. Welcome Oblivion is a good album there, yes.
