As I was walking down the side of a subway station down in good old Brooklyn, there were these two guys playing who called themselves The Arcane Insignia. After giving them a dollar and got back to my home, I looked them up to discover that they were indeed a progressive rock band. I thought I'd check to see if they're liable for addition.
They hail from New York City, and call themselves 'acoustic progressive rock'. The quality is bad on some of these, but they are the best I could find. They also call themselves 'wood metal' and 'folk-core'. Even though I don't know either of those genres maybe others do. Here's some links: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/arcaneinsignia/info?tab=page_info They only have one EP, but it's on their Bandcamp: https://arcaneinsignia.bandcamp.com/releases Sorry for the lack of information, but I hope that what I have is good enough.

Just a bump to make sure this doesn't go unnoticed.

Some more songs available on Reverbnation: http://www.reverbnation.com/arcaneinsignia.
"The Arcane Insignia is an Acoustic Prog Rock/Metal band consisting of melodic vocals, 7-string guitar, cello, & Viola. Fueled by passion & their desire to share a positive & profound message through Music, paralleled only by their complex writing style, The Arcane Insignia have proven themselves as much more than a niche band thanks to the solid Songwriting & craftsmanship embedded on their Songs. The Singer/Songwriter and Guitarist Jaime "Alejandro" Calle was born into a family of performing artists and was always captivated by Music. Singer/Songwriter for 11 projects total, most of them Hard Rock or Progressive Metal, he has decided to finally take a different approach and push his Music career to an acoustic level. Antoinette Ady was trained as a classical violinist but enjoys rocking out on the violin to show what can really be done with a little heart and a little imagination. Lover of Punk and Alternative Rock, she prefers to let the true beauty of the Violin shine through in an unexpected environment. They joined forces in August of 2011 to answer the question, "What happens when you choose to keep all the elements of Prog Rock (complex Lyrical themes, Instrumental passages, concept Songs, etc) but strip it down to the bone and make an Acoustic-only form of it?". If there was ever any question as to whether metal can be played on acoustic instruments, that question is now answered. Cellist Noah Heau joined The Arcane Insignia during the winter of 2014. He moved with his parents to his grandparents' house in Queens at age six from Hawaii. Since his grandfather was an avid musician, Noah was made to practice the cello at age 8 and has earned a BA in Music as well. Violist Tina Chang-Chien joined the project in the summer of 2014. She is a classically-trained musician who enjoys a multi-genre performing career in New York City. She is an avid performer as well as an passionate teaching artist. Alejandro is the last original member remaining, but with the new lineup which includes the amazing Noah Heau on Cello & Tina Chang-Chien on Viola, The Arcane Insignia moves forward stronger than ever." Clickable link to the two-track ep on bandcamp: https://arcaneinsignia.bandcamp.com/releases. They are officially going to the studio in February to start working on their debut album - that means that this suggestion is really one for the future. Perhaps you could bump the thread again when the full length debut is released? |

The suggestion was noted, thanks.
IMHO these guys are marginally progressive at best, but the recommendation was posted for consideration by the Prog Folk team last weekend, and I've certainly been wrong before. Usually these things don't take too long; I know we were working to clear our backlog for the new year but as of this week we're caught up except for these guys and one other recommendation. Hopefully you'll hear back yet this week. |

These guys were approved but I need to get a ruling from the admins because I'm not sure they meet the criteria since they don't have a formal album that can be purchased.

That's fine, so we'll most likely have to wait until a full album to get released first?

Looks like they meet the qualifications so they're in. I'm catching up on our backlog and will get to them this week.
Thanks for the recommendation! |

Okay, sorry but I have to backtrack on these guys. I dug into Bandcamp, Reverb Nation, Facebook and about everywhere else I could look and the band does not have a produced EP or album that someone could buy or download. They have two demos on Bandcamp and that plus some live tracks and other assorted songs on Reverb, but nothing structured as an album or EP so there really isn't anything to list on PA.
I think we're back to waiting for them to actually release something. Too bad, I like these guys. |

According to their Facebook their planning on releasing an album soon called 'The Flawed Design'. Guess we'll just have to wait till then.
