Wow, epic start for Williams and especially Massa.

I know it's hard to give the guy flak for doing what racers should do but can't help but notice no one else (least established) really makes the moves Lewis does consistently. Very impatient move to try and pass Massa on the restart but it had no chance of ever working out. And so far Williams seems to actually be holding! This race has me very intrigued.    BTW I am watching the replay and have managed to avoid any spoilers...was a long night of fireworks and drinkingLOL

Great start for Force India as well, while McLaren...when it rains it pours.

Very interesting, Williams did use team orders at first to keep Bottas back, then later gave him permission to pass but by then it was too late and Lewis was allowed to pass in the pits. I think Merc would get them eventually but they were holding their own. And if Bottas was to get past right then and build a gap...would've been interesting. Not that it mattered in the end I guess, that rain really blew everything up.

Helluva drive for Nico! In those damp conditions he went on such a tear and I thought was gunna take Lewis until like magic he switched to rain tires and the downpour started...guess God is a Brit/Lewis fanLOL  Sucks that pure luck played a role, if things continued Nico had him and it seems the rain came literally as he getting intermediate tires but hey, happens. Still did get him to second and keeps the gap to Hami reasonable.
Shame for Williams, that rain mix up cost them 2 podium spots.

Credit to Lewis and Vettel who came from I don't know where to third in that rain.

And never thought I'd be so happy to see Alonso finish 10th LOLErmm

Best race of the season so far thats for certain, was great to see Williams mix it with Merc.

Big news over the weekend seems to be that Aston Martin are trying to broker a deal so that Red Bull get Mercedes engines next year with Aston branding on the car. Will be interesting to see if that comes off.

Figures that the one race I miss, turns out to be pretty good.  Oh well, same old outcome anyway.

Yeah, but he had to fight for it. Definitely makes it worth watching.

Sounds like it, from what I've read.  Too bad more races aren't like that.

They finally got this Daytona race going after a four hour delay due to rain.  It won't end until around 2:30 or 3am there.

^ Indeed it did not. I'm glad they raced last night through...I still got to see it. Tongue

And what a wicked wreck on the final lap. Eerily similar to the one Larson had a couple of years back. Great to see no major injuries.

Congrats to Jr. as well.

Amazing that everyone, fans included, came away with minor scrapes and bruises at most.  A true testament to how far safety has come in motorsports.

Looking forward to Indy @ Milwaukee, yeah it's an oval but I'm a sucker for history.
Newgarden on Pole.

I've been looking forward to this race, too.  Milwaukee is a highly underrated track that needs more attention than it gets.  And don't knock the ovals too much!  Fontana and Indy were the best races all year!

I disagree, Barber has been the best so far, with Indy a very close second.

One thing I love about Indycar, there's not much in the way of bad, or dull, races.

Well it's well known I've lost my taste for oval racing, I enjoy it for Indy Cars though I do always like road/street courses more. Yeah what Sleeper said, Indy is so damn egalitarian, each race seems to be a tossup amongst so many drivers, and thus the championship. Perhaps the fact that Milwaukee is like a road course oval is why I like it so muchLOL

Race has been good so far, pit stops have been crucial. I thought Newgarden had this race won, he was utterly dominant but Bourdais has just whooped ass. On old tires that lead he built was massive and the off kilter pit strategy basically has put him on newer tires always, and better sitting on fuel strategy. Brilliantly done and considering he had the entire field lapped...I think only mechanical failure or terrible luck will keep him from winning now.

sh*t luck for Power, gunna take a hit for the title as well.
Edit: Well....late race yellow, many pitted and are fine on fuel. JPM in 2nd and Newgarden 8th...this will be a helluva restart!

Wow, Bourdais just owned that. Pure dominance.

Last to for 2nd Helio and JPM overcomes a speeding penalty to get 4th. Great drives.
Shame for Newgarden, he had a bad stop/got shuffled back and seemed to just keep getting stuck fighting up through the pack while I think he should've been 2nd... but that's how it goes.

Great race!

I'm very happy with that outcome of the race.  Helio winning would've made it better, but I don't mind Bourdais.  And Montoya recovered for a good points day over Dixon.  I'll take it.

Yikes!

Was this as a result of his F1 crash?

Yeah, and in recent weeks, his father had been saying that he wasn't too optimistic about his chances of ever coming out of it.  I always had a little hope, though.

Indeed, no matter the advancements made, the inherent danger is always there and always will be.

RIP Jules.
