Speaking of McLaren, from this years NY Auto Show
That wing work is a thing of artistic beauty!

^Great Pics! Clap I wonder how long it will be until new regs dictate that front wings will have to be a single element. In the meantime, enjoy the sculptures!

Is this going to be Kimi's weekend?

^Not judging by qualifying, but his race pace in practice on Friday was stunning.

I hate to break it to you JJ, but thats actually the 29 in the 30's paint job and nose cone.

^I didn't see qualifying but I take it that Kimi didn't fare well. Confused But I'll take a wild guess and say that Hamilton and Rosberg are on the front row. Clown

It looked like he didn't have any grip in Q3.

I did find it odd they had the current years model there, but unless I was grossly mistaken it read 30 on the plaque, which made me double take. I doubt they made a mistake so I misread something, I guess LOL
But yeah that wing work...mind blowing.

Speaking of qualifying. I missed it so not sure what happened but after solid practice McLaren has resumed its place as right ahead of Manor/MarussiaLOLCry  No doubt, after a few years of languishing Ferrari has really upped their game this year. I think it wont be long before Kimi is fighting for wins, perhaps this very race!

Yeah, it was brought up in the mtorsport forum I visit, it might say it's a 30 but it's definitely a 29 as their hasn't been enough time for McLaren to build a fourth monocoque (takes about 6 weeks to make each one). Not that big a surprise that McLaren dropped back, they can't turn their engines up for qualifying like everyone else does but it also means they wont turn them down for the race like everyone else will.

Oh, and for those that thought Alonso would destroy Button, it's currently 2-0 to Jenson in qualy.Wink

^That's because Jenson is actually very underrated!  I don't know if we ever talked about this before, but since he's been with McLaren, he's outscored every teammate he's had, even the almighty Lewis Hamilton (over the whole course being partnered together).

Ah that explains it.  I was very surprised to see a 30, or so it said, there.

I never denied Button's skill, just that I felt his title, while absolutely deserved, was just a bit weak but that's not a knock on Button. I may have said before he never seems capable of going beyond the skill of his car, but again that's not a bash...many can't. As we know he outshone Hami and basically forced him to run away so that says something!

That's a fascinating stat Mills, I never did really notice that. Though again, since being on McLaren.
I'm not a betting guy, or I'd say we should have a fun wager on this year. Who ends up having a better 2015, Jenson or Fernando!

Solid start to the race, sans Ricciardo, and I gotta say really impressive how Williams is looking and there is a real star in the making with Bottas.

Well, Merc had things more in control this time.
More or less everything fell into place as expected: Merc Merc, Ferrari Ferrari, Williams Williams.
Huge result for Grosjean grabbing 7thClap

McLaren takes another step forward, with Alonso taking the edge in this oneWink Progress is progress but dang, with how good this years field is they really need to keep stepping up to  become a consistent point scorer.

I'll always be a very biased Button fan.  LOL  Jenson isn't overly aggressive compared some drivers (as I say that, he just punted Maldonado LOL), and I feel like that holds him back at times.  And for this year, who knows, with the situation McLaren is in.  Are they really racing right now, or just being super conservative while things develop with Honda?

And what do you know, Hami wins again!  Ferrari are closing the gap, though!  And both McLaren's were running at the end, so things are looking up, I guess.

Indy is at New Orleans today, interested for this once since it's a brand new track.
In the mean time, I found that we get the FIA World Endurance Championship, currently at Silverstone, so that is awesome! F1, sports cars and Indy in one daySmile

Even my wife, who thinks that Formula One is a bathroom cleaning product, thinks Indy cars look like sports cars. OMG! Shocked

I've seen others say they get a bit of a Can-Am vibe from this years Indycars. A lot of people have been saying that NOLA reminds them of Portland, and it's certainly got the weather to match as it's been a bit of a wash out (qualy scrapped due to a lighting storm). JPM on pole (grid sorted by points), so it'll probably be the only time this year that the completely useless Dracone starts from something other than last.

Great racing from Verstappen today, he's reminding me of Hamilton in 2007.

17th, out with transmission failure. Was having a decent day though, kid is deff something, I still cant fathom being in F1 at the age of 17!

Well...congrats to James Hinchcliffe on the...win(?) at New Orleans.
I mean, right place right time and luck are part of racing as we know but I struggle to think of this GP as even a race. Can't even give him credit for "keeping it clean" in the rain since I think 75-80% of the race was simply riding behind the pace carLOL

There were 5 or 6 yellows that led to another yellow within 1 lap. Twice there was a spin/wreck before even reaching turn 1 after green, another time they didnt even get to green! A couple others they got to half a lap before someone was off. Was really quite a joke...and Hinch was only in the lead via the shakeup from rain strategy and then gambling...they simply kept him out there and the yellows kept coming and coming.
Ran out of gas just after the checkered, so clearly if the race stayed green, even for a few laps, there is no way he would've made it to the end.

But hey, win is a win. Credit to him at least for holding off Helio on a couple of the restarts I guess

DNF'd, engine/gearbox went 3 laps from the end on the start finish straight bringing out the safety car. It was quite funny watching the marshals trying to get the car through a gap in the wall and into the pitlane, because it had stopped right next to the wall it was at quite a shallow angle and they got it wedged!

He had been 8th, having pulled some very well judged last-of-the-late-breakers moves on both Saubers, Perez and Ricciardo.

Yeah, a pretty bad way to kick off the inaugural NOLA GP. Quite a snooze.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
