Another good Camel album that gets little lip service. What's your opinion on Nude?

I'm very fond of it, it's one of the first Camel albums I heard (this one and Mirage)

A hidden gem in my opinion, beautiful cover with 5 outstanding tracks : Drafted, Beached, Docks, Lies and Landscapes. Needs a little more attention that the other Camel highlight albums.

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

I've always enjoyed the album. I am a huge Happy The Man/Kit Watkins fan and I was disappointed that Kit Watkins wasn't writing a full scale progressive style when he first joined the band. Later evidence on NUDE proved that it would have worked magnificently. They covered one of his pieces, but it was obvious that he was no longer there. It would have been twice as interesting to hear a Latimer/Watkins writing team for a few albums than what had been produced on the average. There seemed to be a turn of direction in the music, yet the piece "ICE" from I Can See Your House From Here was an indication that they could have progressed to better things. "Docks" is a tease and a clear look into the future. It revealed to me that Watkins' timing was a bit off. Stationary Traveler was less commercial and I believe if Watkins had joined the band for that album, his situation would have been more justified. So...it's the if's and and's, pots and pans that makes me curious. Nude stands alone and is a solid effort in the area of being more epic in tone and structure. One of the finer Camel releases.

I've never dared play Nude. No idea.
I'm reading reviews mentioning Nude as being mainly instrumental (a good thing) and "progressive-newage (no thanks!!)
..... Kit Watkin's (I believe first) solo lp - Labyrinth is good as is the Kit & Coco (Roussel) lp. (I think I still have spare trade copy of both Happy The Man lps and Labyrinth.)

I love the album, and there's probably no album, except for Yes' 90125, that I listened more to in my life.

Fantastic album, one of Camel's best. I might even say it's the last classic-level album they did, though they never put out a bad album.

I haven't listened to it yet, but I'm familiar with the song Lies and I think it's pretty good.

Cool album

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Great album - especially for 1981. A couple of duffers in Please Come Home, and The Birthday Party, but overall a 4 star album IMO.

Well, no discussing about taste, but I think Please Come Home is spine chilling. Birthday Party is pretty good too. Just my taste of course.

Hi,
Other than Snow Goose, probably my favorite CAMEL album ... and that's saying a lot because Mirage, was the album that got me onto them as an IMPORT, before it even came out in America!
