Not really fair since there are 3 Trace releases - good luck finding orig vinyl of "The White Ladies" - and only one Refugee.
Still, Refugee is a classic.

Should have phrased it better. I don't despise them but I had been constantly suggested and tbh, they're not my slice of pie. Not to say they're bad, but the amount of times that people have recommended them to me and the amount of times I've given them a chance, Refugee wins, hands down.

^With your enthusiasm for Refugee, I'll have to give their lone disc another listen. And there's another band that needed more albums (Would they have survived the sophomore jinx?).

I love that Refugee album. I did have a compilation by Trace somewhere (or maybe it was a record company sampler) but it didn't do much for me so I didn't go any further. However The Keyboards Triangle album (Ars Nova and Gerard) has one of their tracks 'Birds Medley' and that sounds good. Maybe I need to give them a proper try at some point.

I really like the Refugee album, but I've been a huge fan of Trace since the early 70s, so they get my vote.
Rick van der Linden was a genius.

Birds was my intro to the band (on vinyl 25 years ago!) and it's superb. Get that first. Then backtrack and get the first one, called simply Trace. Don't bother with the third album, White Ladies.

I'm thinking its likely a difficult cd to find nowadays.

Yes, both KT and KT II are excellent. No, White Ladies didn't make much of an impression. I have heard some of Rick's solo (non-Ekseption) work, it's quite good. He was a virtuoso.

KTII suffers a little from dodgy vocal syndrome but good to hear a version of Danger Money. I burnt both albums onto one disk . Nice!
