Klaus Schulze - Blackdance

Without a doubt my favourite Schulze album (he says until the next time he spins Picture Music or Body Love)

LOL I have the same thing, except that it's usually between Mirage and Timewind (plus the ones you mentioned)

You should check out Kontinuum if you haven't already. It's one of the best albums he put out after the 70s.

Just goes to show what a genius he is. I have Kontinuum and really dig it. It's been a while though so thanks for reminding me of it. Might just spin it tonight before I turn in.
I think his best work outside of the 70s is Audentity from 83. Full on Schulze with long gorgeous 20+ min electronic meditations - only he's using some very interesting (and cutting edge for the time) synths that sound like nothing like the 80s.
A slightly more modern album of his that I truly adore is Moonlake. Great mix of classic Schulze and IDM.

^ What's wrong with the sound of 80's synths?

Well for one they tend to get pretty soapy

Time for a 'Signals' re-listen, Guldy.

I know, sometimes they actually do work for some inexplicable reason like on Signals or Fugazi for that matter.
I'd take a hammond organ or a VCS3 over them any day though

Oh yes, Audentity and Moonlake are both one of his best. I'd also recommend The Schulze-Schickert Session which was recorded in the mid 70s but only released two years ago. Excellent for anyone who can't get enough of his 70s material (like myself).

Klaus will have to wait for later or for tomorrow morning. Neil Young's Zuma it is.

Yay and you picked the right volume too!! While I do cherish the second one with Harald Großkopf on drums, it's still the original Body Love soundtrack that's the best. Mike Shreeve ain't too shabby either.

The Schulze-Schickert sessions are wonderful as well. I may have slightly overdosed on them last summer, but I can feel it's time for a relisten soon. Really like the sound of Schickert's echoing guitars on this release.

Extremely punky black metal group I saw live last night with three other acts. The main points of reference are probably Akitsa and Ash Pool, they've got the unrelenting savagery of the former but the atypical-for-the-genre kind of "spacy" atmosphere of the latter.
