One of the best Gabriel-related albums. It's a long one though.

Androgynous aesthetic aside, this is a really uncannily good pastiche of Siouxsie and the Banshees circa Kaleidoscope and Juju though with a cleaner sound and some spacier touches that kinda remind me of Tinderbox. Won't win any points for originality, though I am impressed how well they nail that sound. Got motivated to listen to this for the first time in half a year because they're announcing a new album, half because I've been listening to a lot of S&TB right now.

^There's also a definite Killing Joke influence. I'd agree it's not the most innovative thing, but it's definitely a good record.

Maybe their deliberately androgynous appearance was cultivated to stand out from Siouxsie Sioux' "vampire geisha alpha female" look? On a side note, I think I might have mentioned a couple times I'm genuinely surprised to find out that she has no Asian or even Eastern European ancestry at all.

Can you think of a more stereotypical 1980s goth rock/ethereal wave/shoegaze band name or what? Made somewhat funny by it meant as reference to Monty Python's Flying Circus rather than Wm. Shakespeare...
