How's Taal, Sagi? I imagine that's a band I'd enjoy. Never heard anything from them, I think.

Cool Audun, thanks for the detailed responseSmile I really like that QVL album too. I think my first real exposure to RPI was Cervello's Melos after having read Jim's (Finnforest) wonderful review of it.
I heard QVL's debut on YT, before being aware of this site, and when I first came here almost the first thing I did was commenting on Jim's interview with their American violinist Don Lax, and bugging him with my naive unawareness of cynicism in the music business. Embarrassed LOL

Yeah, I think it was in some poll.

Good to know that you're already aware of 'Masal'. If you come across it somewhere over the net, then please don't pass it up.
Will look for it, for sure. Thumbs Up

Haven't heard that Mesquita album - I'm not even sure I've ever heard the band before...only by name.
*makes a note of it*
Yeah, Mezquita comes highly recommended from yours truly, do check it out if you get the chance.

Damn!! I already need to get those two elephant9 releases, the new Dungen and a bunch of other stuff that I'm forgetting right now. This music hobby is getting priceyLOL
Preach to the choir, the list keeps getting longer, not shorter, no matter how many albums I get. Yeah, a lot of stuff to get released in '15 alone. Come January we'll be broke as church mice once again, you know it. LOL

Yup! Great album.

Yes, it is. And thanks for the reminder, will have to spin this again soon.

Btw, Austin, have you heard their live album with Britten Sinfonia? Beats every one of their studio albums, IMO.

Anyway, before:

Seven Impale - City of the Sun (2014)
Seven Impale City Of The Sun album cover

And, on bandcamp:

Naxatras - s/t (2015)
Naxatras cover art
First listen. Man, this is some face melting stuff! Wow! Strongly considering ordering the limited edition CD...oh come on, who am I kidding? Ordered!

Now:

Touch - s/t (1969)
Touch Touch [also released as: 20-20 Sound] album cover
First listen.

Touch - s/t (1969)
Touch Touch [also released as: 20-20 Sound] album cover
First listen.
Touch is one of the earliest prog albums, and IMO the most progressive of the time, I simply adore every second of it! Every song is different than the other but somehow the whole album sounds unified.
Of course so many prog albums reveal themselves with subsequent spins but still I wonder what you thought of it on first listen Audun?

About Taal as I mentioned it's a modern masterpiece in my book, I think you really gonna like it.
There are so many styles fused together with varied instrumentation, that makes this album very progressive, it goes from folk to gypsy music, cabaret, ethnic to almost metal with hard edged guitars, it is sometimes complex but also very sensitive, this is trully superb stuff. The song writing is strikingly unique and everything is very well crafted. I think it requires a few listens to fully understand and appreciate the whole thing, because there is so much going on, but as experienced listner as you are I'm sure you won't have trouble seeing its merits. I think it's on spotify too, do check it out, I'm sure you won't be disappointed Approve
