Suede vs. Guided by Voices

Perhaps polar opposites, Suede became known for their lush, hi-fi acoustic-guitar driven sound where Guided by Voices became known for their lo-fi sound. Still both of them had an affinity for melodicism.

hi-fi or lo-fi,  can actually be the same atmosphere.   If Lo-Fi is intricately produced, it's Hi-Lo-Fi which is just as lush as your Suede or shoegaze.

Ariel Pink is a demonstration of that, but with Guided by Voices it's more of a way to take focus off texture and place focus on melodicism. Same with Neutral Milk Hotel, who's here in spirit via GbV.
